Joseph Augustine Zagozeski
Our hearts are saddened by the passing of Joseph Augustine Zagozeski on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, at the age of 98 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Monica; brother, Stan; sisters, Bernice and Helen; his first wife, Kay; sons, Richard and Brady; daughter-in-law, Gwen; and son-in-law, Clyde.
Joe lived a long and full life. He was a successful farmer and rancher and owned a trucking company – Diamond Z Trucking. Joe’s greatest legacy is his family. His first marriage to Kay blessed him with 3 wonderful children: Cheryl (Al Laughlin), Richard, and Brady. Later in life Joe met his second love, June. He welcomed her seven children into his life and was embraced by her large family: Joan (Gord), Wes (Debbie), Pat (Gwen), Lynn (Clint), Walter (Connie), Jody (Ira) and Vicki (Tim). Joe’s pride and joy were his 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Joe was born and raised in the Belle Plaine/Pense, SK area, where he farmed the family farm until his retirement. In 2022, he sold the farm and he and June moved to Moose Jaw, SK. In 2023 they moved to Coteau Range Manor in Avonlea, SK where they were warmly welcomed. They were treated like family and received love, respect, home cooked meals, and excellent care.
Joe cherished his longtime friendship with Russ Adams, who visited often.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 10th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Father John Prince will officiate, and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s name may be made to Coteau Range Manor, 210 New Warren Pl, Avonlea, SK S0H 0C0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
