Carole Eva Wakeford

Carole Eva Wakeford passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, December 13th, 2024, at age 84 years.  Carole was born on July 30th, 1940, on a farm near Chaplin, SK to Frank and Nettie Hodgson.  She attended Chaplin High School where she met the love of her life, Rod Wakeford.  Rod and Carole were married May 18th, 1959, and soon after, they were blessed with 4 children in 5 years – Lloyd, Terry, Leslie, and Jerry.  The kids kept Carole busy, along with being a hairdresser.  Rod worked for CP Rail, and they lived in many places over the years including Brandon, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg, MB, making many friends along the way.  Rod and Carole also had a Lakehouse at Palliser Park where they enjoyed hosting friends and family for many years.  In 2007 they moved to Moose Jaw where they retired.

Carole was very artistic and creative.  She loved to paint, draw, and make crafts.  One of her favorite things to do was to make crafts and paint with her grandchildren.  She had a green thumb and loved plants and gardening.  She was also an avid fan of the Blue Jays, the Riders, and loved to watch curling.  Carole always loved animals from a young age, especially her cats and her grand puppies.  The pets were spoiled as much as the grandchildren.

Above all else, Carole loved her family.  She loved photographs and she covered the walls in her home with pictures of all her loved ones.  She loved watching all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sports and school activities.  She was extremely patient and kind and taught us all how to love completely and unconditionally.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Nettie Hodgson; brother, Renny Hodgson; and sister, Francis McCauley.  Carole is survived by her husband of 65 years, Rod Wakeford; children: Lloyd (Carey) Wakeford, Terry (Garnet) Moser, Leslie Perry, and Jerry (Kristina) Wakeford; grandchildren: Sharlene (Greg) Myketiak, Derek (Amber) Wakeford, Zachary (Dawsyn) Wakeford, Arianna Wakeford, Jason Moser, Chris (Chantal) Perry, Myles (Madison) Perry, Melissa (Josh) Hill, Curtis (Jasmine) Wakeford, Ryan (Graham) Wakeford, Amanda and Dana Wakeford; great-grandchildren: Gavin and Jase Myketiak, Nevaeh, Michaela and Avrey Wakeford, Makenna and Peyton Perry, Beckham Perry, Sadie and Ella Hill; sister, Jane Stark; brother, Neil (Barb) Hodgson; and sister-in-law, Gail (Roy) Crippen.

A Private Family Service will be held to honour Carole.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550
