Pedro Daniel Umaña

Our lives were forever changed on Sunday, January 16th, 2022 when our precious son, Pedro Daniel Umaña, born May 3rd, 2006, lost the battle against depression.  At only fifteen years young Pedro’s life had a profound effect on everyone who knew him.  Pedro was born in Calgary, AB and raised in Lafleche and Moose Jaw, SK.  He spent his youngest years playing hockey and baseball, camping, and getting into mischief with his best friend Hudson Tallon.  He attended Lafleche Central School until 4th grade, he continued on at St. Michaels School in Moose Jaw completing 8th grade.  Pedro was half way through grade 10 at Vanier Collegiate when his high school career ended.  Pedro was a funny kid.  He was also a protector, a strong shoulder to lean on, and always the first to help anyone.  His passion for sports was a huge influence for his sisters Sara and Maria, and his Xbox and gaming skills were shared with his brother Evan.  The numerous and amazing experiences Pedro has enjoyed through sports has been the foundation for many happy friendships.  Our “hockey family” grew every year with each new team and so did the friendships.  Pedro’s most prized possession has to be his Saskatchewan All Stars Baseball Jersey that he wore playing in Langley, BC in the Little League Canadian Championship in 2019.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his parents, Victor and Susan; siblings: Sara, Evan, and Maria; grandpa, Rod Williams; grandma, Lois Nangreaves; great-grandma, Dolores Nangreaves; Abuelita, Olga Umaña; Tia’s (Aunties): Lilian, Holly, Nancy and Caitlin; Tio’s (Uncles): Clinton, Danilo, Jared, and Hector; his cousins that he loved so much: Mateo, Cris, Eva, Dayanara, Malachi, Malia, Emerson, Miah, William, and Esaias; as well as numerous second cousins and great-Aunts and uncles that loved him so much.

All who knew Pedro are invited to join the family in remembering and celebrating his life on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main St, Moose Jaw, SK with Deacon Lamont Dyck officiating.  Those not able to attend are invited to watch the service virtually by going to https://youtu.be/AbkkR6-87SM.  In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please consider donations in Pedro’s name to KidSport Moose Jaw, Box 1811, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K8.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Our deepest sympathy to you on loss loss. We got to know him through Thomson Lake swimming with our grandkids. He taught them how to do back flips. Then our paths crossed again at hockey.

Dry bones rattle in a lonely soul
Slipped and fell into a deep black hole
I can tell you’re lost, I’m here for you
Wildfires burning you down to stone
Blind eyes, turning from a world so cold
A million miles apart, within my reach
It’s not like me to worry
But when I see you fading in the dark
I’ll leave a light on for you
Through the long nights, I will be right
There for you if you drift too far
I’ll leave a light on for you, you, you

        Gracie cared for you deeply
        Wish I could’ve met you!!!

My heart breaks for. I am so so sorry for your loss.
What a handsome young man. There are no words that will help you feel better right now but to paraphrase the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh. ‘Aren’t we lucky to have loved someone so deeply it hurts this much to say good-bye?’
With our deepest sympathy. Jill (Sprague) and Mark Bissell
