Kurt Garhart Tiede
Kurt Garhart Tiede, beloved husband of Jeannette (nee Poulin) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 at the age of 85 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with his wife and daughter by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jeannette, his children, Robert (Debbie) of Moose Jaw, Bill of Williams Lake, B.C., and daughter Mary-AnneTiede (Dwight Hawken) of Calgary, Ab.; grandchildren, Michael (Caroline), Amy (Shawn) Eby, Leisa, David, Curtis (Kerri) and Cory; great grandchildren, Cole, Morgan, Broady, Brayden and Ashton. He was predeceased by his parents Molly and August Tiede, brother Eric and sister Betty Gould. Left to mourn are sisters-in-law Irene Meikle (Holy Family Hospital, Vancouver, B.C.) Juanita Poulin (Nevada, Mo), Betsy Tiede (Moose Jaw), brothers-in-law Phil Poulin (Ottawa), Glenn Gould (Moose Jaw) and several nieces and nephews. Kurt was born on July 30th, 1923 in Germany. He came to Canada (Mossbank, Sk.) at the age of 7 with his parents and brother. Kurt and Jeannette met at Temple Gardens in Moose Jaw and kept on dancing through 60 years of marriage. He enjoyed playing bridge, cribbage (had one perfect hand!) and card games with family and friends and was known to watch his beloved Blue Jays and other sports. He started work at CP Rail in Moose Jaw September 3rd, 1947 and retired August 1st, 1983. He was a life member of Fr. Lawless Knights of Columbus Council No. 1534 in Moose Jaw. He was also a member of the Legion, Elks and the Moose (Medicine Hat). A prayer service will be held at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, Monday, February 23rd, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Francis Folleh as presiding celebrant. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.
