Penny Smith

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Penny Smith, aged 78 years at Moose Jaw, Sk.  Penny journeyed through her life mainly in Moose Jaw with short stops in Regina and Winnipeg, returning to her beloved Moose Jaw.  She dearly loved her community, her friends, her family, the family farm and her dog Cleo.  Penny was an avid fan of sports with a particular love of the NHL, MLB and the CFL.  Penny worked at Moose Jaw Union Hospital as an admitting clerk from 1975 to 2006.  Penny also worked as a Real Estate Agent for LJ Agencies for many years.  Penny enjoyed her trips to Los Angeles, Coeur d’Alene, Hawaii, Acapulco, Hong Kong and China.  She often visited her sister Bonny and her family in Calgary where there was always fun and laughter.  Penny is predeceased by her parents, Jake and Anna Smith; sister, Paula and Paula’s son, Ryan.  She is survived and will be dearly missed by her brother Ernie; her sister, Bonny (Ken); beloved nephew, Scott and niece, Sandra and beloved nephew, Cameron (Misty) and their much loved children, Jacob and Katie.  We would like to acknowledge the kind efforts of Moose Jaw Home Care who assisted in Penny’s care for the past several months and to the staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital who compassionately attended Penny in her final hours.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Private Family Service will be held.  Friends and Family are invited to view the service virtually on Thursday, May 20th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Penny’s memory may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 or to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation 55 Diefenbaker Drive,  Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Bonny and Ernest, when I think of Penny I always find myself smiling. She was such a character who always said it like it was. Whenever we got together we spent way more time visiting and horsing around than we did on business. I’ve missed her since retiring and didn’t know that she was ill. I’m sorry for your loss but know that she is now reunited with your Mom and at peace.
