Lloyd Edwin Smith

Lloyd Edwin Smith, aged 79 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29th, 2022 in Central Butte Regency Manor.

Lloyd was born to Richard and Olga Smith on November 10th, 1942.  He attended Chaplin School and completed Teachers College in Regina, SK.  Lloyd returned home to teach and marry his life partner, Erva Seaborg.  The happy couple moved to Moose Jaw to start their family: son Darin, daughter Jody and son Trent.

Lloyd was a teacher and Principal for 25 years before starting Smitty’s Painting.  He operated a successful business while employing individuals who struggled to find employment.  Lloyd was well known as being a hard-working man and very intelligent.  He loved his granddaughters immensely.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Jody; wife, Erva; brothers, Ken and Mel; sister, Bev; niece, Ashley; nephew, Mark; and Trent’s partner, Lynn.  Left to miss Lloyd’s presence are his sons, Trent and Darin (Stacey); beloved granddaughters: Kayley (Warren) Strachan, Tori (Cory) Brown, and Paige Smith; great-granddaughters, Claire and Grace Strachan; brothers, Dennis (Lynne) and Glen (Helen); sisters, Ruth (Ed) and Val (Randy); sisters-in-law, Lil and Doreen Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the Moose Jaw Palliative Homecare Team and Dr Waldner, Deidra Wilson – you were the light in Lloyd’s day, thank you for supporting and caring for Lloyd and being our friend, and to Dale King – thank you for being a great friend and confidant to Lloyd.

A Private Celebration of Lloyd’s Life will be held in the near future with close family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, please take an extra minute to be kind or generous to others.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

So sad to hear of Lloyd’s passing, what a nice man. I have a feeling Erva is going to be so happy to see him again. I knew Erva from working at the Burger Palace, before meeting Lloyd, what a lovely couple they were. My condolences to the family. I am thankful I got to know Lloyd.
