ROBERT JAMES “ROB” SILLJER

March 24th, 1962 – August 4th, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce that Robert James “Rob” Silljer passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4th, 2025, at the age of 63 years, in Kelowna, British Columbia, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen Silljer.  Rob is survived by his children, Saylem Silljer and Kylen (Shae) Silljer; brother, Ronald (Natalie) Silljer; cousin, Anne-Marie Ash; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him with love.

Rob was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on March 24th, 1962.  He spent his childhood taking annual trips to Kelowna to see family, a tradition he carried on and cherished in his adulthood.  Rob attended A.E. Peacock Collegiate and later studied at SIAST to become a certified electrician, a career he took great pride in until his retirement in 2023.

Rob was a man of many passions.  He loved being outdoors — whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, or tending to his garden.  He was especially fond of cars and firearms, and he found joy in cooking, with a particular talent for making soups.  Rob was known for his quiet generosity; always the first to lend a hand, yet never one to ask for help in return.

Above all, Rob loved being a father and was proud of his children.  He cherished the time he spent helping Kye with sports throughout his childhood and took great joy in hearing about Saylem’s travels and adventures, while also creating lasting memories on family road trips to British Columbia.  These meaningful moments will be remembered with love.

The funeral service will take place at a later date, with details to be announced.  After the service, Rob’s cremains will be returned to Kelowna, a place he loved as his final resting place.

A special thank you to the Kelowna Hospice House for the compassion and care provided during his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob’s name may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Im so sorry for this heavy loss, I worked with Rob for only a few years how ever he was always so kind and had a big smile on his face.
I recently ran into him while he was fighting this battle but that did not mean his smile was removed. He walked around and still was the most kind person. He will be surely missed by many people.
So very sorry for your loss

Condolences to Robs kids and families and to Fred a good friend many moons ago. Rob was a very nice, funny and generous man that would give you the shirt off his back. You will be missed beyond what words can express. RIP Rob.
