Andrew Peter Sentes

Andrew Peter Sentes passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17th, 2025 at the age of 88 years.  Born to Rose and Gasper Sentes on November 10th, 1936 in the Markinch, SK area, Andrew was the second oldest of 5 brothers.  He was a loving husband, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him.

Andy left the family farm at an early age and met his wife, Margaret Moore, while working at her parent’s farm in the Valjean, SK area.  They married in 1960 and took up residency in Regina, SK, and welcomed their only child, Larry, in 1962.  In 1964, Andy, with the support of family, moved to Moose Jaw and established Andy’s Transmission.  Andy and Margaret ran the business together until her passing in 1983.  He married his second wife, Marie Kuhn, in 1985 and started the second business with a partner a short time later.

Andy had a love of restoring old cars and was a founding member of the Moose Jaw Antique Car Club and Sukanen Ship Museum.  He helped with many projects at the museum, from building restorations, the annual Threshing Bee, and fundraising.

Andy loved to talk and tell stories with anyone, and this could be family, friends or a stranger.  Andy and the old boys loved their Saturday morning coffee chat sessions at the shop.  He loved music and loved to dance, especially a good old-fashioned two-step or polka.  Andy was also committed to helping many organizations, sponsoring youth sports, different leagues for all ages, and an original season ticket holder for his beloved Warriors.

Andy’s biggest love was his family.  He took great pride in being a provider for his family and did a great job of that, and at the same time passing on life lessons and morals to live by.  He loved attending all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and enjoyed family get togethers with everyone.  He talked about taking his grandsons to Buffalo Days in Regina and Warrior hockey games.  Memories they will have and cherish forever.

Andy moved to Chateau St Michaels in June 2023 and loved to sit in the corridor and talk to the people coming and going, while also catching a wink or two.  He leaves behind a family legacy, many friends and stories for all of us to remember.

“You will be missed and loved forever by family and friends.”

He was predeceased by his parents, Gasper and Rose; wife, Margaret; in-laws, Jim and Ivy Moore; second wife, Marie; brother, Tony Sentes; brother-in-law, Lloyd Nelson; and sister-in-law, Pat Sentes.  Andrew will be remembered by his son, Larry (Vicki); grandsons: Aaron (Glendi), Ella and Emma, Brett (Tayler), Zoey and Asher, and Lane (Courtney), Meadow and Giorgia; stepsons, Kurt Kuhn and family, and Cory Kuhn and family; brothers: John Sentes, Joe Sentes, and David Sentes; sisters-in-law, Pat Nelson and Jean Nelson (Dennis); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thank you to all of you that took the times to visit Andy throughout his lifetime, but especially during his time at Chateau St. Michaels as you passed by him sitting in his favourite chair.  Andy’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Chateau St. Michaels for the care given to Andy.

In keeping with Andy’s wishes, a private service will take place at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Andy’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.

Love and miss you Dad

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Cara Ashworth, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Larry & family, I remember so well the days of Andy being behind the counter at your shop. I knew him for many years while I worked next door at my Dad’s business and he was always so friendly. He will be missed and well remembered.

What I remember about Andy was him sneaking a bottle into our dugout during provincial men’s playoffs, I don’t think Jack Kennedy appreciated it but Andy thought we needed a pick er upper! Very funny now though! Thought’s are with you Larry & family.
