Jack Andrew Sarafin
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Andrew Sarafin, who left us peacefully on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Born in Shaunavon, SK, Jack was a cherished member of his community and a loving family man whose spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
Jack was born to Andrew and Nellie Sarafin, who instilled in him the values of hard work and perseverance. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ellenora, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, having married on July 2nd, 1960.
Jack was a proud father to Darrell, Ann (David Bedwell), Debra, James (Marilyn), and Charlene. He took immense joy in watching his children grow and thrive, and his legacy continues through his grandchildren, Justin and Chloe (Doug Graham), and great-grandchild, Ella Grace. Jack’s home was always filled with laughter, love, and a good game of cards.
Jack dedicated a significant part of his career with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a Leading Track Maintainer (39 years). His commitment to his work was a testament to his strong character and dedication to serving others. Jack and his family lived in numerous communities across southern Saskatchewan through out his career. Beyond his professional life, he was an active member of the Church of Our Lady and the Knights of Columbus, contributing to his community and fostering connections with those around him. Jack was also an active member of the Multicultural Society for many years. He and his family were members of the Polish Club. For years, Jack, Ellenora and their daughters learned and performed Polish dancing.
An avid enthusiast of life’s simple pleasures, Jack found joy in playing bowling, bingo, and cards – especially when dimes were at stake. His playful nature and mischievous spirit were evident in his constant willingness to tell a joke and share a good laugh. He was always hopeful of striking it rich in the lottery, dreaming of the day he could make his family wealthy, even if just for a moment of fun.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Andrew and Nellie; sister, Ann Blomander; and nephews, John and Dwight Blomander. His absence leaves a void that will be felt deeply by his entire family and many friends. He was a man who brought joy to those he met, and his kindness, humor, and hopefulness will be remembered by all.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan St in Moose Jaw, with interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery. As we come together to honor him, we invite all who knew and loved Jack to share in the memories of a man who enriched our lives with his laughter and generosity. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Food Bank, 270 Fairford St W, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1V6 or to a charity of one’s choice.
Jack Andrew Sarafin may have left this world, but his love will resonate within us forever. Rest in peace, dear Jack. You will be missed more than words can express.
