Randy Mel Nesvold

It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Randy Mel Nesvold, 64, of Regina on September 9, 2025.

Randy was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on January 17, 1961, and was the only child to Melvin and Irene Nesvold. He grew up in Moose Jaw playing many sports, with baseball being his favorite. He graduated from Moose Jaw Collegiate and worked various jobs, including the Valley View Home where his gentle and kind spirit was well suited. He attended Moose Jaw SIAST graduating as one of the top students in the province. He eventually joined CGI as a Senior Consultant where he worked until his passing.

Randy had a deep love for music. Along with his best friends Earl and Norm they founded the band, Crystal Image. The band played countless gigs across the province and recorded their hit “Steps of a Fool” in 1989. The song won a country wide contest awarding the band recording time in a Professional Studio. Those years remained some of Randy’s fondest memories, filled with music and stories he loved to share. Music continued to be a part of his life, whether he was enjoying a concert or simply relaxing on his deck listening to his favorite rock songs.

Randy was a true sports fan. He loved to play and watch golf and rarely missed watching a Rider game. He was passionate about Jr Hockey and travelled for many years with his beloved sons even coaching some of their hockey teams. He will be remembered most for his unwavering dedication and commitment to the Moose Jaw Warriors. Randy volunteered countless hours and spent many years as President of the Booster Club.  When he moved to Regina, he continued his commitment, running 50/50 draws and raising countless dollars for the team. His contributions will leave an everlasting mark on the organization, fans and friends alike.

Randy also enjoyed travelling and was never shy about sharing his favorite spots. He and Rhonda travelled frequently to Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas and Hawaii where Randy’s friendly and outgoing personality attracted people to him. Making countless new friends everywhere he went.

Randy’s greatest Joy was his granddaughter Brooklyn. She was the light of his life, and he cherished every moment they shared together.

Randy was predeceased by his parents (Melvin and Irene Nesvold), his son Darren, and Missy his Jack Russell. Randy will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his son Christopher, and his granddaughter, Brooklyn. His spouse Rhonda, stepson Shae (Jenelle), brother-in-law Brett (Tammy), mother-in-law Carol and his faithful companion Luke the Cavalier; as well as numerous friends and family members.

We will Celebrate this Wonderful Man’s Life at the Cosmo Senior Center on Friday September 19th, 2025, at 3:00pm located at 234 Third Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK.

In honor of Randy and in lieu of flowers, donations to be made in his honor to The Moose Jaw Humane Society Box 1658 Station Main Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

My deepest sympathy to Rhonda and family. Randy always lived his life to the fullest, he and I where like siblings our mothers where friends and so we played together as toddlers. Though we have spoken in a long while, I know we can chat without time passing and myself and my husband held Randy with respect and was always a pleasure to see him…typically seeing him at a Warriors game when we came home to visit. Life sometimes is just not fair, but I know that you will be able to share many funny moments and be able to smile with fond memories. Wishing you well and keep your family close and hug them tight…deepest condolences. Rhonda I always knew you where his soulmate by the way he would speak about you, I am happy he found you.

Hearing of Randy’s passing came as a huge shock followed by great feelings of loss and sadness. As I work remotely from Edmonton, Randy wasn’t just a co-worker to me – he was a friend. Randy was always willing to lend an ear and provide support through difficult times. You could count on him for advice and guidance and willingness to help even into the late on-call evening hours. He made me feel like I was a welcome and respected addition to the team. His loss will be felt always. Sincere condolences to the family.

We are deeply shocked to hear of Randy’s passing, having worked closely with him for over 8 seasons on the Moose Jaw Warriors Booster Club 50/50 program. He was always a delight to chat with, an amazing storyteller, and such an engaging person who will be greatly missed. I still recall many of our late-night chats, talking shop, and the thrill on your face as you got to see the Warriors in the Memorial Cup. You were one of a kind. Our condolences to the entire family during this difficult time – from the AscendFS team.

We first met Randy & Rhonda in Mexico in 2016 and realised our shared love of shots by the pool and Las Vegas which bought us together from the UK in person many more times. We have such fond memories of Randy and will remember his very kind nature and feel very fortunate to have had him as part of our life for all of these years and we will continue to remember him fondly. Such sad news. Randy was a great guy – always up for a fun time – and we had lots of those back in the GDS days. Even years later, he was the one that brought us back together to reminisce and have more fun. He’ll be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Randy’s family at this difficult time.

This is terrible news.I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Randy at GDS. He worked hard and he could play hard . He was a great guy, i don’t ever remember him being in a bad mood, and he was always good for a laugh (or 5). There was never a dull moment when Randy was around. My sincere condolences to the Nesvold family.

So sad to hear of Randy’s passing, I was his neighbor on Hastings. He was there to help when he could. Middle of winter, he helped me get my sliding van door back on its hinges while MY kids were inside the van. Good guy…didn’t need to, but did. He helped me properly seed my lawn, and other things. Sorry for your loss Chris and Brooklyn. I know he was very good to both of you. My heart breaks for you. Also to you Rhonda, we’ve never met, I’m sure you know where everyone is coming from with all the kind comments. Hugs to you all.
