Ronald Gordon McDonald

Ronald Gordon McDonald, born June 12th, 1958 in Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Monday, December 15th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Ron married the love of his life, Denise McDonald (née: Craig), on October 28th, 1978.  Together they built a life rooted in loyalty, hard work, and deep devotion to family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Mavis McDonald; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doug and Orla Craig. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Denise; son: Mike (Shannon) McDonald and grandchildren Reg and Louis; daughter, Barb (Stefan) Geddes and grandchildren Jackson, Dylan, and Jorja.  He is also survived by his sister, Faye (Russ) Andrews; nephew, Murray (Bridget) Andrews; and great-nephew, Luke.  He will be missed by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Cheryl (Dan) Olson, Rob (Bert) Craig, Laura (Dave) Duguid, and Steve (Faye) Craig; along with many extended family members and friends.

Ron spent many years hauling cattle for D&D Livestock, where he was known for his hard work and dependability.  Eventually, he stepped away from trucking and committed himself fully to farming, the work he was most passionate about.  His life centered around his family, the partnership he shared with Denise, and his love of farming.

Ron will be remembered for his strength, and his deep loyalty to those he cared for, especially Denise.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 20th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 Paul Drive in Moose Jaw, SK.  Pastor Jason Schultz will officiate, and a private family interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ron’s name may be made to Lung Saskatchewan, 2308 Arlington Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

We are very sorry and sad to learn of Ron’s passing. He was called away from us far too early. God’s calling has resulted in an excellent farmer working the fields in heaven with green equipment. Ron will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing. Our deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace.

Ronnie was petrified of water. But he loved being in the boat, especially driving it. I’m sure he had at least three life jackets on when we were towing the kids in the tube in water that was rough as the ocean. Ronnie will not only be missed, but he will be remembered.
Denise, I hope that you and your family will find peace during this difficult time.
