Lorne Joseph Lewko

Lorne Joseph Lewko passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6th, 2026, at the age of 82 years.  Born on December 27th, 1943, the oldest of 4 children, Lorne spent his early years on the family farm near Ituna, Saskatchewan.  The family moved to town where he went to school until his eventual high school graduation in 1963.  In 1967 Lorne married Valerie Renkas and the two of them moved to Regina, SK to work and start a family.  Eventually the young family moved to Moose Jaw, SK where Lorne began a career with CP Rail before retiring in 2000.  

Following his retirement with CP, Lorne started a job as a school bus driver for Holy Trinity School Division, where he drove for more than 20 years until the time of his passing.  He was known for his friendliness and reliability and took great pride in getting the students to and from school safely and on time.  He built countless relationships with students, families and co-workers that will miss him dearly.  

Lorne continued his passion for farming throughout his life.  In the early years he would travel back to Ituna every weekend to help on the family farm.  He also worked with Babich farms for over 20 years helping with seeding and harvest.  Lorne would jump in where needed but was often harrowing, land rolling or trucking.  

He was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Molly Lewko; and his in-laws, Joe and Tillie Renkas.  Lorne is survived by his wife of 59 years, Valerie; daughter, Sheri (Jamey) Logan, their children, Taylor (Ryan) Froehlich, great-grandson Beckett, Jordan (Amarha) Logan, great-granddaughter Haven; son, Shayne Lewko, his children Jayce Lewko (Dallas Richardson) and Nate Lewko; and son, Dale (Jalaine) Lewko and their children Ty and Fischer.  

Lorne loved sports and enjoyed many decades watching his children, and grandchildren at the rink in the winter and on the ball diamonds in the summer – rarely missing a game.  Lorne was an avid Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughrider fan and enjoyed watching both.  

Lorne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 18th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Deacon Lamont Dyck will officiate, and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery.  Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Lorne’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
