Adeline Terease Leverton
Adeline Terease Leverton aged 96 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026. Adeline was born on December 4th, 1929. She was delivered by her maternal grandmother Teresa Nagel on the family farm near Briercrest, SK.
Adeline attended Elerton Elementary School, which was 1.4 miles from the farm. High school was mainly at the Briercrest School, but she graduated grade 12 at Sion Academy, the Convent in Moose Jaw. She then went to Moose Jaw’s Normal School where she obtained her Teaching Certificate. Her first posting was a single room school in the Mazenod area teaching grades 1 through 10. She also taught at the Spicer School and in Expense, SK. Adeline’s career was very important to her. She loved teaching. When she married Charles Lewis Leverton in 1952 they moved to Moose Jaw and she began teaching and substituting with Moose Jaw Catholic schools. Most of her full-time teaching was at St. Agnes School.
Her family was always her focus, and she enjoyed a close relationship with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Many card games, family get-togethers, and long conversations were enjoyed by all. Some of her dearest friends have passed away but she still maintained contact with many and enjoyed those visits and phone calls as well.
She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Emilie (née: Nagel) Flegel; husband, Lewis Leverton; and son-in-law, Brent Woods. Adeline is survived by her loving family: daughters, Lois Saunders and Cathy Woods; son Mark (Tamara) Leverton; grandchildren: Adam (Kristy) Saunders, Jared (Heather) Saunders, Jessica Woods, Christine Woods (Eddie Chow), Sarah Leverton, and Tyler Leverton; great-grandchildren: Keira, Amelia, Maia, Brynlee, and Kwanele Saunders; brother, Edwin (Anne) Flegel; sister, Edna Fikowski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Adeline’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Crescent Park Retirement Villa for the care, compassion, and friendship as they supported mom through her final years.
A private family celebration will be held to honour Adeline at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Here’s a poem dedicated to Adeline. I hope you are with your angels, Adeline❤️
Four pictures in the wall
Which looks so familiar
Like it defines who you are
It does in so many ways
Cause your eyes lit up every time
You talked about the stories of your time
And i could tell that you had such a full life
I could feel the warmth of your kindness
The love of you had for your loved ones and even for strangers
And in the 96 years, you carried yourself so gracefully
I am sure there was highs and lows
But you embraced all of it and taught us to do the same
So today might not be the entirety of everything you imagined
But i am sure that you are in a better place
Where the rest of your days will go a lil easier
And we will remember you with love, honesty and respect that you shared
We will try to live up to the poise and grace you had
And we will try to live wholeheartedly
From farms to cities to small towns
And finally to a room filled with your loved ones
And people who you really don’t know but
Who love you dearly, we will forever remember
The acceptance, affection and the joy you brought to us.
Dear Lois, Cathy and Mark and families,
Our prayers and condolences are with you all. Your Mom/grandma was such a wonderfully warm and kind woman. She encouraged and guided me on my teaching journey and became another Mom to me. I will treasure all of my cherished memories of her. I am so glad that I spoke to her on her last birthday. We laughed so much! She will be sorely missed and always loved. May you be comforted by knowing that your much beloved Mom is with God and your awesome Dad. God bless.
Adeline, kindness touched my life and the lives of my children.
Her gentle nature and laugh would change the atmosphere in any room.
Her calling of being a Teacher, has blessed hundreds of students.
Your family is so Blessed to been able call her Mom and Grandma.
Her Memory shall always bring a smile to my face, and that Memory will be Eternal.

My deepest condolences to Adeline’s family,
I met Adeline when you kids were attending St. Mike’s and then taught with her at St. Agnes until I quit to have my own children. Adeline was always so helpful, kind and gracious. I never forgot her and have always admired her. She was blessed with a long life and you were all blessed to have her for so long.
Also my husband used to coffee with your Dad before he passed away. He has fond memories of your Dad as well.
They are together again.
My prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Joan Leugner
So sorry to hear of Adeline’s passing. She had a wonderful smile and was always so easy to talk to. When I was working at McDonald’s many years ago, I got in trouble so many times for going out to the lobby and visiting with her, Olga and Vivian. They were all so fun to talk to. She was a very special lady and will be missed.
