Annie Kot
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Annie Kot (née: Ann Michelle Dombowsky), who exited time and entered into eternity in the arms of Jesus. Annie left for heaven on the afternoon of Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, at the age of 34 years. She passed peacefully and without pain, surrounded by her loving family. After a courageous one-year battle with a rare form of cancer, Annie spent her final eight days at the ICU in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she was cared for day and night by her husband, Joel, her family, and her closest friends, who never left her side.
Born on February 22nd, 1992, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Annie was the fourth of five children born to Shelly and Ben Dombowsky. She was raised in Moose Jaw, where she attended Cornerstone Christian School, completing high school at Central Collegiate. It was during these years that she met the love of her life, Joel Kot, and formed lifelong friendships that remained a source of love and support until the very end.
Annie spent two years at Bethel School of Ministry in California — one with her brother Louis and one with her brother Mark —followed by a one-year internship. Throughout those formative years, she poured her heart into serving others. She volunteered at a senior’s centre, bringing joy to the residents, and served with compassion among the homeless and those facing hardship in Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Nicaragua.
Upon returning home to Moose Jaw, Annie completed a two-year Business program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. It was during this time that she reconnected with her forever love, Joel, and their story together really began. They were married on October 19th, 2019, in a special ceremony in Central Park, New York City. The couple made their home in Moose Jaw, where they welcomed their daughter, Gianna Gem Kot (“Gia”), on November 6th, 2020, and their son, Ari Thomas Kot, on May 16th, 2023. During this season, Annie also became a Red Seal certified hairstylist, sharing her savvy for all things beautiful.
Annie lived a life marked by unbridled joy, intentional love, and practical service. Truly relational, she had a deep care for both the big and small details in the lives of those around her. Extremely well-organized and meticulous, she showed love through thoughtful actions and a genuine desire to make others feel seen and valued.
Annie is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Joel Kot; their two children, Gia and Ari; her parents, Shelly and Ben Dombowsky; her maternal grandmother, Shirley Begin; her siblings: Matt and Carla Dombowsky, their children Pascale, Simone, Benedict, Eugenie, and Mattias; Mark and Dominique Dombowsky, their children Theodore and Margot; Louis Dombowsky; and Abigail Dombowsky. Joel’s family includes parents, John and Eva Kot; brother, Ryan and his wife Kirstin, their children Cillian and Orla; and sister, Lindsey and her partner Max Back. Annie was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Louis and Elenora Dombowsky; maternal grandfather, Ed Begin; and her aunt, Rosanne King, who we can assume she is laughing and dancing with at this very moment.
A Celebration of Annie’s Life will be held on Friday, May 8th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church in Moose Jaw, followed by a luncheon. All are welcome, as Annie was greatly adored. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to https://www.youtube.com/live/pMTsSoXHxrg?si=fjI44e4mN441m4bj. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any donations be made to www.gofundme.com/support-the-kot-family. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Joel, Shelly, Ben and all of Annie’s family, we are so sorry to hear of Annie’s passing and send our heartfelt condolences to all of you during this difficult time.
Dear Shirley, the Begin, Dombowsky and Kot Families,
We were so shocked and saddened to hear about Annie. Being neighbours for so many years with you (Shirley) and Ed, we met many of your grandchildren. Annie was such a sweet, gentle presence. Even though we didn’t know Annie well, she was always up for a chat and a good laugh, and we could tell she had a very caring nature. She truly was a joy to be around. The world would be a much brighter, more loving place if more people were like her. You should all be very proud of the daughter, granddaughter, and beautiful woman you raised. Our hearts go out to all of you and please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Andie, Marlys, and Brent
