Steven “Beaver” Karmarznuk

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven “Beaver” Karmarznuk, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, January 13th, 2026, at the young age of 59 years.  Steven was born on December 4th, 1966, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the youngest of four children.

He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Dolores; and his nephew Jason.  Steven is survived by his caring and dedicated wife of 25 years, Heidi; his loved and only son, Kodi; and his faithful furry companion, Murray.  Steven will also be significantly missed by his siblings: Debra, Lorrie, and Kenny; as well as his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish the memories they hold of their brother and uncle.

His “busy as a beaver” spirit and inability to ever sit still, earned Steven his lifelong nickname at a very young age.  He was always active growing up, running from one adventure to the next, and spending time with family became everything to him.  He especially enjoyed travelling with Heidi and Kodi, often returning to Banff, Alberta, where he spent part of his earlier years.  He found immense joy in the mountains, cooking for family gatherings, and in all things sports – whether he was attending live hockey games or cheering from home.  He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved most.  It wasn’t uncommon to spot him driving around town with a Tim Hortons coffee in hand, crossing paths with the many friends he made throughout his life.

Steven co-founded HF Environment, a hydro vac company, with his business partner Colby.  His passing has deeply affected the entire team, who mourn the loss of their manager, mentor, and friend.  Steven’s leadership, integrity, and vision helped shape the company and inspired those who had the privilege of working alongside him.  Beyond his professional contributions, he was a source of guidance, trust, and support – always leading with generosity, purpose, and inspiration.  His presence will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by everyone who knew him.

A Celebration of Steven’s Life will be held on Friday, January 30th, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 561 Home Street West in Moose Jaw.  Those wishing to honour Steven’s memory may make a donation in his name to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Sorry to hear of beavers passing I knew him all my life . We had a lot of fun when we where young some good some bad . I would always see him cruising in the black dodge truck always a smiling and we would swap stories and have a laugh. He was proud of his son would always talk about him with a glimmer in his eye. I remember when he pulled up in his chevy shortbox he had just bought and was telling me how the boy and him were going to have some fun Greg Nicholls aka Dimes.

Our deepest condolences to Heidi and the entire Karmarznuk Clan.
From Calvin (Ronda)and Dennis Giofu. Beaver was my best friend when we both went to Westmount Eliminatory school, we had no fear in those days, we shared many memories. When we were able to visit as adults the Beaver I knew as a child never changed.
I am comforted knowing that Beaver is in a better place now.
May he rest in peace, God Bless Steven Karmarznuk
