Jacqueline “Jackie” Dianne Huys
It is with deep sadness that the family of Jacqueline “Jackie” Dianne Huys (née: Claffey) announce her passing following her courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, at the age of 63 years.
She was predeceased by her mother, Dianne Harrison; father, Jack Claffey; brother in infancy, Russel Claffey; sister, Shantel Carlson; niece, Brandi Panasiuk; and nephew, Shayne Nergard.
Left to cherish Jackie’s memory are her loving husband of 19 years, Louis Huys; daughter, Nikki (Chad) Dickie and their children Ty and Payton (Wyatt) and their daughter Rylee; daughter, Amanda Svedahl and her children Katelyn (Navy) and Keenan (Olquidea); daughter, Falon (Kyle) Caron and their children Jazlyn and Paizley; daughter, Mandelle (Travis) Frederick and their children Aubrey, Emmalyn, Kira, and Benson; Louis’s daughter, Kristi Schmidt and her children Harper and Ellie; and Louis’s son, Daniel (Dara) Huys. She is also survived by her brothers, Jesse Claffey and Kalvin (Lori) Claffey; sister, Norma (Mike) Saip; her best friend, Gaylin Pingert; her extended family, including her in-laws; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched over the years.
Jackie had a special gift for connecting with people and never seemed to meet a stranger. Her approachable nature made it easy for her to turn brief conversations into lasting friendships. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cuddling babies, tending to her garden, nature and wildlife, and people-watching wherever she went. She loved going for drives and was always happy to hit the road, whether there was a plan or not. Jackie also enjoyed her years as a school bus driver and cared deeply for the children on her route, even if they occasionally tested her patience and gave her a few stories to tell. A devoted fan of the Roughriders (especially if they were winning), Dolly Parton and country music, Jackie embraced life with warmth, humor, and a touch of pink…her favorite color. Above all, she treasured her family and friends, and the special memories she created with them will be cherished forever.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jackie may be made to Make-A-Wish Canada, 4211 Yonge Street, Suite 301a, Toronto, ON M2P 2A9.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”
