MARGARET HELENA HILL (née: Woolley)

November 9th, 1928 – March 28th, 2026

God saw her weary, worn with years,
And gently stilled her pain and tears.
He took her hand so frail and mild,
And called her home, His faithful child.
Though hearts still ache and eyes may cry,
We trust she rests with Him on high.

It is with love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Margaret Helena Hill.  Marg passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at the age of 97 years, while residing at Pioneer Lodge nursing home in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

Marg was born on November 9th, 1928, to Fred and Helena Woolley in Cranbrook B.C.  Her father was with the CPR, and they moved several times throughout western Canada.  She moved to Moose Jaw with her parents, brother Bob and sister Norma Jean.  This is where she met the love of her life, and best friend, Don Hill.  They were married on April 14th, 1951 and moved to the farm near Boharm, SK and raised 6 children.  Marg loved the farm life and was kept very busy raising a growing family.  She had many talents and interests including gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, curling (which she played until almost 90), and softball.

Marg was involved with many groups throughout the years.  She was a member of the Johnstone Dairy Maids provincial softball championship team in 1946, a member of the Boharm 4H with her daughters, the Boharm United Church Women, and Moose Jaw Special Olympics.  She helped with the kids’ activities, special Olympic activities, and volunteered in the community wherever help was needed.

Marg and Don loved to watch as the kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren participated in their various sports and activities.  They were always there to cheer everyone on or to be the taxi.  Marg and Don did some travelling, enjoying a Caribbean cruise, trips to Banff, Radium Hot Springs, and Palm Springs.

Marg lived a long and meaningful life marked by kindness, resilience, hard work, and an unwavering devotion to her family, all without complaint.  Marg and Don moved from the farm to Points West Living (formerly Caleb Village) in Moose Jaw in 2014.  They enjoyed their last few years there, meeting new friends and catching up with old acquaintances.  There they celebrated 71 years of marriage with family and friends.  Marg moved to Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw after some health problems and resided there till her passing.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Hill; son, Robin Hill; granddaughter, Nikki Hill; parents Fred and Helena Woolley; brother, Bob Woolley; brother-in-law, Ron Trammell; father-in-law, Roy (Muriel) Hill; mother-in-law, Vina Hill; sister-in-law, Marg (John) Parr; brothers-in-law: Burleigh Hill (WWII), Doug (Muriel) Hill, Gord Hill, and Bob (Robbie) Hill; nephew, Mike Parr and niece, Brenda Hill.  Left to remember Marg are her daughter, Deborah; grandchildren, André (Karen) Leveille and Marc (Andrea) Leveille; son, Craig (Gabe); grandchildren, Tai (Ashley) Hill and Sean (Staci) Hill; daughter, Marilyn (Howie) Tighe; grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Tighe, Bradley (Emily) Tighe, and Melissa (Kellyn) Bollinger; daughter-in-law, Lorie (wife of Robin – deceased); grandchildren: Cody (Lindsey) Hill, Jesse (Erin) Hill, Leroy Hill, Kali Jameson, Aaron (Bailey) Hill, Shane Hill, and Emma Hill; daughter, Elaine (Sheldon) Williams; grandchildren: Jerred (Jacqueline) Williams, Brett (Amanda) Williams, and Troy (Krysta) Williams; son, Barry; 38 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Norma Jean Trammell; sisters-in-law, Mary Hill and Rita Psikla (Woolley); as well as many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the staff at Points West for making mom and dad’s years spent with them so special and treating them like family.  Enough cannot be said about the amazing staff at Pioneer Lodge during mom’s years there.  We are so blessed to have every single one of them care so much about our dear mom.

As per Marg’s wishes, a family celebration of her life will be held in the spring.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Marg’s name may be made to Moose Jaw Special Olympics or The Moose Jaw Humane Society.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550

I was saddened to learn of your Mom’s passing. Marg and Don were such an important part of our “Grace Family” where Barry lived for many years. I am thankful for the wonderful memories that were created within our specially “created” Family. It makes me giggle when I think of the hierarchy within the Grace Family. Marg was such a dedicated Mom. I felt blessed to be able to call her my Friend. My Condolences to the entire Hill Family.
