Kathleen (Kae) Evelyn Hill (née: Bell)

Kathleen (Kae) Evelyn Hill (née: Bell) aged 90 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12th, 2019.  Kae was born on June 19th, 1929 to Doug and Irene Bell, the 2nd of 7 children.  Kae attended school at Prince Arthur Elementary School and then completed her high school years at A.E. Peacock.  After graduating from high school, she worked for Security Lumber as a bookkeeper. Kae met her husband Alfred Hill and the two were married on June 21st, 1952.  They made their home in the house that Alfred had grown up in, adding to the wonderful memories that had already existed in the home.  In 1952 they welcomed their first child, a daughter, Margie. They went on to welcome two more children, Aletha born in 1954 and Raymond, born in 1959.  Kae kept busy those years, taking the kids to their activities and cheering them on along the way. When Alfred retired, they focused their time and efforts on their hobby farm that consisted of a variety of animals, from jersey cows and horses to sheep, among others. They always maintained a large bountiful garden and they shared the harvest with their family and friends.  A special time in the week was set aside every Sunday at noon for a special family dinner with their children and grandchildren. After Alfred passed away in 1995, Kae continued to keep herself busy with a variety of activities such bowling on Tuesdays with her friends, which was always followed up with coffee somewhere for them to catch up and visit. In the summer she would be out and about as much as she could, from going for walks with friends, to visiting local garage sales.  She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, which everyone loved and looked forward to having when they were at her house.  She especially loved family gatherings, which got larger and larger as the years went on as her family continued to grow. Whether it was for a birthday party, Christmas dinner or just a family gathering, you could guarantee that Kae would be there with a smile on her face taking care of everyone.  She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Hill; parents, Doug and Irene Bell; daughter, Margie Drake; son-in-law, Rod Drake; brother, Ross Bell. Kae will be lovingly remembered by her children: Aletha (Bill) Patterson and Raymond Hill; grandson, Jonathan (Kelley) Drake; great-grandchildren, Easton and Edge; grandson, Kent (Kara) Drake; great-grandchildren, Kavis and Kollins; granddaughter, Michelle (Lawrence) Drake; great-grandchildren: Raymond, Eva and Leroy; grandson, Aaron Patterson; grandson, Blair (Tammy) Patterson; great-grandchildren, Denton and Kaleb; granddaughter, Heidi (Blayne) Gilbertson; siblings: Rusty (Joan) Bell, Bob (Jane) Bell, Jack (Grace) Bell, Shirley Elliott, and Doug Bell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 20th, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Garry Giofu officiating.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Kae’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

My heartfelt condolences to Aletha, Raymond and Margie’s family on the loss of your Mum and Grandma. I first met Kae in 2003 when Bob took me to Moose Jaw to meet the Bell family for the first time. Everyone was very welcoming , including Kae who introduced me to her delicious Saskatoon Berry pie! She was a very warm lady with a quick wit which endeared her to me right away and I really looked forward to our trips west and visits with Kae. There was always a lot of laughter around her dining room table and I will forever treasure those memories of her. Sending love to you all.

Auntie Kae ….. one of a kind she was. We wanted her to live forever. So many awesome memories as a child. Every Sunday we would all gather after Church for a fantastic meal. She always made it all look so easy. Love her so. Always stopping by when riding, hoping to get a chocolate chip cookie. Kee Aw Kee.
Our call ….. Sending light and loads of love ❤️ to Ray, Lee , Bill and family, the entire Drake Clan.
