Dennis James Hicks

Dennis James Hicks, aged 73 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026.  Dennis was born on January 11th, 1953, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to James and Marjorie Hicks.  He grew up on the family farm near Courval, SK and began working alongside his father James, uncle Gordon and brothers Ivan and Kelvin at a young age.  Raised with strong values of hard work, family, and community, Dennis carried these principles throughout his life.

On February 8th, 1975, Dennis married the love of his life, Kristine.  Together they raised four sons on the family farm, where Dennis lived for more than 50 years.  He later transitioned to a long and successful career as a truck driver, operating vac trucks, water trucks, gravel trucks, reefer trailers, and cattle liners for over 20 years.  Known for his reliability and work ethic, Dennis earned the respect of many in the industry.

In addition to his work, Dennis proudly served his community as a Council Member for the RM of Rogers for 28 years, from 1977 to 2005.  He was deeply committed to the well-being and development of the rural municipality he called home.

Dennis will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and a man who valued hard work, family gatherings, and life in the country.  His sense of responsibility, and love for his family left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his father, James; mother, Marjorie; brother, Kelvin; and sister-in-law, Sheila.  Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kristine; sons: Clinton, Scott, Jerrod (Faye), and Kent (Laura); grandchildren: Mia, Lyla, Wyatt, Marshall, Colter, Presley, and Kinsley; brother, Ivan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate and a private family interment will take place in Bethany Cemetery at Parkbeg, SK.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Dennis’s memory be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4 or simply take a moment to enjoy the prairie landscape he loved so much.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Cara Ashworth, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
