Thomas Leslie Hetherington
Thomas Leslie Hetherington was born January 2nd, 1953 and passed away Wednesday, December 31st, 2025, with his family by his side.
Tom spent his whole life, with the exception of 10 years, living in three different houses in the same farmyard, originally homesteaded by his grandfather. Tom knew he wanted to be a farmer from the time he was ten years old and his love for farming was evident by his long hours spent in the field. Although he helped his dad with cattle, he never wanted his own. He joked that the only good cow was medium rare on his plate.
Tom married the love of his life, Charlotte Paysen, in January 1974. For their first date, he sold his pigs to take her to the fair, despite him not being able to tolerate many of the rides. They enjoyed travelling, including many hours with friends on the motorcycle finding the best places to eat. Together they farmed until Charlie’s passing in 2011. Afterwards, Tom continued to farm, only slowing down in the last year.
Tom loved to fish and spent many hours on Buffalo Pound and Diefenbaker lakes, summer and winter. Walleye was always his fish of choice. He also enjoyed attending all of his grandkid’s activities over the years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Adele; brother, Steve; and his wife, Charlotte. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his son, Mike; grandchildren: Aysia (Jordan) (great granddaughters Embyr and Soryn), Ramsay, Oliver, Broden (Kassy); daughter, Tracy (Norm) Vickaryous; grandchildren, Tat and Dayton; daughter, Kelli (Jason) Myers; sister, Pat (Bob) Misener; brother, David (Karen Green); brothers-in-law: Larry (Brenda), Darrell (Zohreh), and Wayne (Bev); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held to honour Tom. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Canadian Taxpayers Federation via their website www.taxpayer.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
