Brent Merrill Hanna
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Brent Merrill Hanna aged 71 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026 at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, with his wife by his side after a year long fight with an auto immune disease.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernie and Joan; son, Jordan; brother, John; and in-laws, Leo and Ann Fichter. Brent was born and raised in Regina, SK and attended Sheldon Williams until he was hired on the railroad. He started in the shops in Regina and transferred to the running trades as a brakeman, conductor, and then an engineer. He retired in 2010 after a 37-year career with CP Rail. He was the ultimate railroader and loved his job and the guys he worked with.
Brent was a storyteller, history buff, and a life-long Detroit Red Wings fan. He played slo-pitch until he was 65 and enjoyed golfing here and in Arizona. He loved playing the horses and would study the program for hours. Brent was a social person and with his quick wit, became a friend to many.
