GLADYS MAY GRAY
August 30th, 1949 – June 6th, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gladys May Gray on Friday, June 6th, 2025, at the age of 75 years. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Gladys lived a life full of energy, compassion, and determination.
Born on August 30th, 1949, to Alfred and Justina Lake, Gladys grew up with a strong spirit and a fierce love for life. From a young age, she displayed a competitive drive and natural grace that led her to excel in figure skating. Her talent and dedication to the sport remained a lifelong passion, and she later gave back by teaching young skaters how to take their first steps in skates, inspiring them to pursue their own dreams on the ice.
Throughout her life, Gladys embraced many roles and careers, but she found her true calling in real estate. Her warmth, honesty, and deep understanding of people made her a natural in the field. Gladys didn’t just sell homes — she helped build communities and formed lasting relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
Gladys always had the coffee on and welcomed all her friends with an open door and a big smile. Gladys loved spending time with friends participating in many of her favorite hobbies. She enjoyed everything from wood working to flower arranging, home decorating and participating in many craft shows.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Justina Lake; daughter, Angela Gray; her beloved husband, Elmer Schulties; and her youngest brother, Alfred “Freddie” Lake. Gladys leaves behind a family who adored her: her daughters, Michelle Gray and Christa (Jamie) Schwitzer; grandchildren: MacKenzie, Maguire, Meliah, and Elliana; and her younger brother, Ronald “Butch” Lake. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, Cheryl Zinn and many close friends who will miss her deeply.
Gladys will be remembered for her generosity, her vibrant personality, and her unwavering commitment to those she loved. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched both personally and professionally. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A Graveside Service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, June 13th, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made in Gladys’ memory to Parkinson Canada, 4211 Yonge St, Suite 316, Toronto, ON M2P 2A9 or The Moose Jaw Humane Society, PO Box 1658, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Dear Michelle and Christa
I am so very sorry to know that Gladys has passed away.
Gladys was such a great Mom to you both and she was so proud of you.
I will always cherish the fun times and many visits and laughs we shared along with Bob and Elmer. She was very talented in many things.
You are going to miss her so much.
My deepest sympathies go
out to you both.
Rest in peace Gladys.
My heart sunk when my sister let me know that Gladys, with her warm and wonderful smile, had gained her wings and taken flight. I shall continue to cherish the fond memories of times when this beautiful woman was a part of my life. She was a special lady!
Gladys and I met when we were 17, lived very different lives but remained fast friends. She never wrote letters, used email or FB but always had time for me when I was in town. When we moved back to MJ after not being here for 14 years it was like we had just seen each other the day before. She had retired but was very generous about vetting houses we thought about buying. We are so glad to have shared a few good years with her. Farewell dear friend.
My condolences to you Michelle and Christa. You were neighbours for a few years and I had privilege of babysitting you. It is so true Gladys, your Mom was high energy and always had a cheerful smile. Hugs for you!
