ROBERT LAURIE GOOCH
1961-2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, uncle, and great-uncle, Robert Laurie Gooch on Monday, December 1st, 2025 at his home near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, in his 65th year.
He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Freeland (Gooch) in 1991; mother, Helen Ackert (Marcotte) in 2004; and father, Robert Arnold Gooch in 2019. Rob (Laurie) will be extremely missed by his sisters: Nancy Schisler (Cochrane, AB), Wendy Gooch (London, ON) and Kate Smith (Stratford, ON); nephews, Mark Mutton and Phillip Hunt; niece, Rachel Mutton; and special friend, Pam Freeland.
Rob was born in Ingersoll, ON in 1961. He moved to Saskatchewan in 1990 and lived there for many years. Sadly, he lost his son in 1991 when Raymond was only 10 months old. Rob did return to Ontario for a few years but decided that he really enjoyed life in Saskatchewan, so he went back in 2024 and reconnected with Pam. Rob really enjoyed exploring the ghost towns in Saskatchewan.
Rob will always be remembered for his talent in renovating. Without any formal training, he had a natural knack for being able to build or fix anything. Over the years he renovated and flipped many houses.
We did not see Rob much, but we were always in contact and knew that he would be there for us if we needed anything.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rosedale Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Moose Jaw Funeral Home to join the procession to the cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Rob’s name may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
