DENNIS NELSON FOX
May 23rd, 1945 – August 12th, 2026
Dennis Nelson Fox passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12th, 2026, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the age of 81 years.
Dennis was born on May 23rd, 1945, in Swift Current, SK. He grew up with his siblings and parents on the Fox farm near Kyle, SK, later moving into Kyle to complete his high school education. Shortly after high school, Dennis joined the Cooperative Retailing system working in the Farm, Lumber and Fuel departments, before deciding to become the General Manager in Neville, and later, the Herbert Co-op, where he spent most of his career. He then retired from the Pioneer Co-op in Swift Current. Dennis was a Co-op man for life. During these years, he made many friends and was highly regarded for his professionalism and work ethic.
In 1967, Dennis met the love of his life, Dianne Moulding, a teacher in Kyle, and they were married July 13th, 1968. They continued to be best friends and companions until the very last day. They were inseparable. Where one went, the other one was right there beside them. Dennis and Dianne were blessed with four children whom he loved dearly. He was very proud of his family and their accomplishments, and his seven grandchildren were also a source of great pride.
During his time working in Herbert, Dennis and Dianne spent much of their married lives on their farm, near Herbert, SK. They raised Charolais cattle along with many other animals and in later years added grain farming into the mix. Dennis would be often found out in the yard, puttering in the shop, or tinkering with something to make it work. There was always something to do outside on the farm.
Dennis loved farm life and sharing life lessons with his children and later, grandchildren, as well as anyone who came to visit. Many stories and memories occurred on the Fox Family farm, and it was an integral part of Dennis’ life. He was eager to share with anyone who would listen to all the great things his family was doing. He was a storyteller right to the very end and loved “the good, old days”.
Much of Dennis’ retired life was spent researching and writing about his extended family, involving many trips to a variety of places and countries to trace his genealogy. He wrote eight family history books, and this information has been invaluable to his family. Dennis always knew this information would be treasured long beyond his years.
Dennis was an active member of the Herbert Lions Club, Herbert United Church, Genealogy Society (Swift Current), square dancing groups, and enjoyed playing games and cards. He was also asked to speak at many formal and informal events. He enjoyed collecting antiques and driving his Model A at the local car shows.
In 2019, Dennis and Dianne bought a home in Moose Jaw, which was a new adventure that brought him closer to extended family. He loved going for a drive with Dianne to explore. Dennis enjoyed living out his final years in Moose Jaw, however, his heart always remained at the farm.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Irene Fox; parents-in-law, George and Anne Moulding; Donald and Ina Fox, Marjorie and Bob Maalerud, Dennis Matthews, Velma and Bob Hampton, Lynda and Larry Closs, and other extended family members. Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Dianne Fox; children: Anne (Jay) Benson, Leslie Jesse (Lisa) Fox, Marilyn (Leigh) Fitzpatrick, and James (Andrea) Fox; grandchildren: Andrew, Julie, Laura, Kaleigh, Megan, Kyler, and Talyn; siblings, Sharron Matthews and Gordon (Karen) Fox; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held on Friday, August 21st, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Reverend Deborah Smith officiating. Dennis and I were high school buddies. We purchased a 1928 Buick at a local auction sale for $25. It had been converted into a truck by Tom Claus I believe. I was only 15 at the time but Dennis had his drivers licence so off we went for all sorts of adventures !!! I got to drive when we were in the country but in Kyle Dennis was at the wheel to avoid issues with Felix Mcarthy, the town policeman.
Fortunately I was able to reconnect with Dennis and Diane for a nice visit in their Moose Jaw home.
My father Elwell Clark was a good friend of Dennis father Les Fox, and Dennis and I carried on the tradition.
My sympathy to Diane and their offspring.

Dianne and the Fox Family – Thinking of you all with deepest sympathy, and with many fond memories of Dennis from the good times we spent together over the years. Whenever we visited, he was always happy to share the western way of life with us. One memory that particularly stands out is the experience of a true western rodeo – a novel experience for us! Whenever he came to visit us, he was always enthusiastic about experiencing the maritime way of life. We also enjoyed reading his family history books which are such a wonderful legacy for his family. We always looked forward to spending time together. He will be greatly missed.
Carol & Gerry Fitzpatrick, St. John’s, NL
Sincere condolences to Diane and family
