Donald Raymond Foulston

1939 – 2026

Donald Raymond Foulston was born in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1939, the only son of Angus and Sheila Foulston. He grew up on the family farm near Eyebrow, Saskatchewan, where the wide-open prairie sky and the rhythm of farm life would shape him for the rest of his life.

Don spent several years at Canadian Union College going to the high school there with his cousin Marilyn Foulston with whom he was very close. When she broke her ankle he took notes for 3 months in all her classes so that she was able to graduate on time. His schooling was interrupted for a year after he was thrown from a horse and broke his leg. He was able to complete grade 12 in ‘60. Don then set off on an adventure that would define his 20’s — traveling off and on through the United States. It was during this time, while working at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, that he met the love of his life, Sharon Purdy. The two were married and had their only daughter Darla in Central Butte, Saskatchewan. After several years in New Hampshire and Ohio, they made their way back home to Eyebrow to raise Darla there. Starting in the 70’s Don farmed alongside his father and later his cousins. At times he also worked in agriculture or car sales. 

Though he loved the open road and traveled widely across the United States and Canada, Don always chose to stay close to the people who mattered most to him. He treasured his parents and extended family above nearly everything else, and in their later years, he was there to care for them with the same devotion they had shown him.

Don was, above all, a people person. Gregarious and warm, he never met a stranger and never turned down a good conversation — whether it was about cars, farming, or absolutely anything else. Those who knew him will remember his mischievous grin, the one that gave him away every time he snuck an extra dessert or heard a joke worth laughing at. When his daughter Darla came to town, he especially loved going out in Moose Jaw for pancakes or a saskatoon berry crepe. Starting in 2020 he started living in the Mulberry Estates and enjoyed the friends he made and the community there. 

Don will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Darla; his son-in-law, Eric Fassler; and his cherished cousins in Tugaske: Carol and Dennis Foulston, Albert and Melanie Chernipeski, Devone Foulston, Margaret and Murray Foulston, and Cameron Foulston, as well as many other cousins scattered across the US and Canada. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and a life lived close to the people he loved most.

A Funeral Service to honor Don will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Moose Jaw.  Interment will take place in Tugaske Cemetery.
