Margaret Marie Deagle

Margaret Marie Deagle (née: Noble) aged 96 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully, with the love of her family surrounding her, on Monday, May 18th, 2026.

Margaret was born on the family farm in Mitchellton, SK on June 9th, 1929 to parents James and Margaret “Peggy” Noble.  She was the only daughter growing up with brothers James “Jimmy”, Stewart, and Norman “John”, and adjusted quite well to farm life.  Margaret was not a big fan of riding horses, which was the mode of transportation to and from school in Mitchellton, where only one room was used for Grades 1 through 10 then on to Moose Jaw Technical School “Peacock”, for grades 11 and 12, where she met her husband of 50 years, Garnet Deagle.  She worked at Eatons while attending school, weighing and packing fruit in their grocery department.  She also worked at the Metropolitan store until she enrolled at Moose Jaw Business College where she studied secretarial.  After, she worked at S.S. Kresgee’s in the office until her marriage to Garnet on July 1, 1950.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mother and wife.  She was one of a few women that had their license and a vehicle to drive and was often called upon to drive neighbors and friends.  Margaret had many skills that kept her busy – she sewed, knit, crocheted, hooked rugs, and was a prolific puzzle maker.  She, along with Garnet, enjoyed travelling and would go on road trips where Margaret would do the driving.  These were not short jaunts but often were multi day trips driving and camping from one coast to the other.  In later years, they began travelling by airplane.

Margaret, like so many Moose Javians, would meet up with friends and acquaintances at the Co-op for a coffee or two and then after it’s closure, would go to McDonald’s or A&W, and then a Smitty’s with her good friends Gail and Bud.  She loved to meet up with her Mitchellton Ladies group once a month for lunch and visits and was also involved with the TOPS group for 30 years.  Until she got sick in November, Margaret was very active, often seen in her car or grocery shopping.

She was predeceased by her husband, Garnet in 2001; great-grandson, Robert in 2001; son, Lance in 2025; parents, James and Margaret Noble; brothers: James (Vera), Stewart (Donnie), and Norman; and sisters-in-law: Cora (Nick), Wynne (Richard), Ethel, and Jean (Scotty).  Margaret leaves behind to mourn her loss, her daughter, Wanda (Mike) Mawson of Belleville, ON; sons, Wade (Carol) of Lemberg, SK and David (Rayal) of Moose Jaw, SK; daughter-in-law, Pat Deagle; and sister-in-law, Joyce Noble.  Also mourning her loss are her grandchildren: Greg (Gina), Jeff (Ashley), Jody (Andrea), Chris (Jen), Kimberley (Ashley), Angela (Reg), Michelle (Duane), Jordon (Kaitlyn), Angela (Kelly), Bradley, Jazzmin, Jessy (Paige); great-grandchildren: Eva, Jora, Alexander (Vanessa), Jessica, Kimberly, Dylan, Natalie, Alexis, Emma, Katana, Morgan, Liam, Erica, Virginia, Jack, Ben, Allie, Kylie, Kyson, Kesler, Abigail, Anna, Sam, Jayven, Bella, Amelia, Madden, and Grayson; great-great-grandchildren, Theodore and Mason; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

You are in our hearts and thoughts.  We miss you, Mom.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 26th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550

Our sincere condolences to all of Margaret’s family. We enjoyed her company when she visited Wanda and Mike here in Belleville and it was a treat to attend the celebration of her 90th in Moose Jaw. A lovely person indeed.

This reading is from Daughter-in-Law and Sister-in-Law Pat. Wanda (Mike), Wade (Carol), David (Rayal) and families. Our sincere sympathy on the passing of Mom, Margaret, Grandma, Great-Grandma from all of my family, Angela (Kelly), Brad, Jessica, Kimberly, Dylan and myself to all of you. Since coming into your family your Mother became Mom to me and a Grandma and Great-Grandma to my children and granchildren. I only had to mention her name and everyone would ask how she was, even my hairdresser and massage therapist would ask how she was. After I lost my Mom, she would call and see how I was and after Lance passed away Mom and all of you checked in on me and I checked in on Mom and you. The grieving process is different for everyone, no one grieves the same way. Mom and I would have phone visits and when we went out to lunches and suppers we always had great conversations. When Mom didn’t want to drive because of the icy roads, I would pick her up and take her for a Walmart run, or a Co-op run or both and any other errands she needed to do. Lance and I had always taken her out on errands and supper and I continued to do so. My heart goes out to all of you, family, friends, neighbours. We lost a loving and caring lady in Margaret and I have lost another Mother; but Heaven has gained another Angel. Think of her as knitting and doing puzzles or reading a good book. That’s how I’ll remember her. She was so kind to me for all the years I’ve known her. Love to you all

Since my wife Pat and Margaret were friends who went to the same TOPS group together, I have been friends with Margaret. We would always chat when we met while shopping at various places. Our last encounter was earlier this year at Safeway. I am saddened to hear of her passing. Sincere condolences to her family and all who knew her.

My condolences on the passing of Margaret to the South Hill Moose Jaw family. I remember them from the 1960’s.

There was a special Chev at the latest Majestics car show in Regina, it was purchased in Mitchellton where Margaret was born.

I remember the Metropolitan and Kresge’s stores in Moose Jaw, I worked at Woolworth’s while attending Riverview Collegiate.

Brian and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Margaret. In later years I described Margaret as my former Mother – in -law, who was still my Mother – in – law. When I married Brian she welcomed him with open arms. Margaret was a beautiful soul who was always a delight to be with. I remember many years ago when Margaret was giving her Granddaughters Kim and Michelle and myself a ride somewhere and some gentleman almost ran into her car. Margaret did NOT swear. Instead we heard her say “Oh, you sssssillly goose”. There were many times Kim and Michelle would mention , do you remember Grandma and her “sssssilly goose”. We would all have a good laugh over that. Whenever Brian and I were out and about and we saw Margaret we would always stop, chat for awhile, give a hug and kiss, and say “love you.” Our deepest sympathy to all of her family and friends. I know everyone who knew her will cherish the happy memories of her. We hope in time these memories will bring comfort, hope and peace. She is free from all pain and suffering. May she rest in peace. We will miss you dearly Margaret.

I was so sorry to hear about Grandma Deagle’s passing. Although she wasn’t my grandmother by blood, she was part of my life for as long as I can remember. I first met her as a baby, and over the years her letters and cards with thoughtful updates about her life and family always meant so much to me.

I’ll truly miss hearing from her and keeping up with all the news she so lovingly shared. She had a special way of staying connected across the years, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Thinking of all of you and sending my deepest sympathy.

Margaret came into our lives while Jim was in pilot training in Moose Jaw. Over the course of five years Margaret became ‘Grandma Deagle’ to our girls, Amy and Julie. Grandma Deagle never forgot their birthdays, often slipping a few dollars into their cards. As the years passed, Margaret became Grandma to Julie’s two boys also. We always looked forward to Christmas cards. Our heart is full of memories.
Our thoughts and sympathy are to the family, with love.

I am so sorry for your loss Mrs Deagle was a gem. . she was the only one I would trust to watch my daughter Traceys when I needed a sitter for family events.
Whenever I saw Mrs. Deagle, she would give me such a rough time about not wearing shoes and she would tell me that I’m going to ruin my feet well Mrs. Deagle I’m still running around barefooted and my feet are in great shape but I loved that you cared so much to remind me to put some shoes on.
We will all miss you and we love you very much and if you see my Howie up there. Say hi
