Raymond Croissant

With sadness, but in gratitude for a long and well-lived life, the family of Raymond Croissant announce his passing.  Raymond was born at Hilda, Alberta on May 10th, 1926 and passed away on Friday, December 29th, 2023 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan at the age of 97 years.  He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Carrie (née: Becker) Croissant; his beloved wife, Pearl; and siblings: Abbey Croissant, Edna Manske, Reuben Croissant, and Mabel Senft.  Raymond will be dearly missed by his family: sons: Delwin (Evelyn) Croissant, Elroy Croissant, and Marlon (Janice) Croissant; grandchildren: Janelle (Dan) Hobbs, Vanessa Croissant, Allysha Croissant (Paul Klein), Taylor Croissant (MiYeon Kim), and Clarke Croissant (Lindsay Hart); great-grandchildren: Gannon Laroque, Emma-Kate, and Easton Hobbs; sister, Selma Godlien; brother, Murray (Junette) Croissant; as well as several nieces and nephews.  When Raymond was an infant, his parents moved the family from Hilda, AB to a farm near Arbuthnot, SK.  Eleven years later, they relocated to a farm north of Woodrow, SK, where he lived the majority of his life.  Raymond married Pearl Senft of Hodgeville, SK on November 18th, 1948 and they enjoyed 69 years of married life together.  They raised their three sons on the farm and took part in community, church, and school activities in Woodrow.  Raymond drove the school bus route north of Woodrow for 12 years in the 50’s and 60’s – a full bus of thirty-six kids and always on time.  He took pride in keeping his yard and farm neat and tidy.  Raymond and Pearl built a new house in the neighbouring town of Lafleche, SK in 1974 and as his sons took responsibility for more of the farming, he and Pearl enjoyed card games with friends, bowling in Gravelbourg, SK, and Raymond was a regular participant in Coffee Row.  He always liked visiting with people of all ages.  In 2010, Raymond and Pearl retired to Moose Jaw and lived in assisted living facilities there.  The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 8th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Reverend Taylor Croissant and Reverend Mi Yeon Kim will officiate and interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery.  Those not able to attend may view the service virtually by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
