Beverly Theresa Coates (née: Bang)
August 30th, 1943 – November 4th, 2025
Beverly Theresa Coates, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at the age of 82 years.
Beverly was born to Leroy and Francis Bang in 1943 in Bremerton, Washington. She married Wayne Coates in 1968 and moved to Canada. In 1975, the family moved to Chaplin, SK where they started the family farm.
She was predeceased by both parents; her sister, Betty; husband, Wayne (November 2024); son, Bob (November 2022); as well as several aunts and uncles. Beverly leaves to mourn, her children, Jodi Coates (Darcy Zaretsky) and Krista (Mike) Blenkin; and daughter-in-law, Claudine Coates. She also leaves to mourn, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tana and husband Cory Arnott (Makaya and Caiden), Kyla and husband Matthew Helson (Lowen and Livia), Tyler Statham and Cheyenne Rosenau (Saige and Ryder), Mackenzie and husband Brent Ginther (Daelen, Nixon, and Ari), Luke Coates (Brylee), Nolan Coates and Jayne Owchar, and Matthew and Landen Blenkin. She will be remembered by her special sister, Bonnie; brother, Bruce; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Chuck) and Marilyn; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves to mourn many friends she spent time with playing cards, going to garage sales, and sharing many stories. Special mention to her friends Laurie, Rosalie, Delores, and Diana who spent many hours the last few months visiting and keeping her busy, going for outings, and visiting her during her hospital stays.
Beverly loved to bake, and she shared generously with family, friends, and neighbors. We would always love walking into the house, and the smell of fresh buns or cinnamon buns would be lingering in the air, as well as the many squares she would prepare for the holiday season, including her infamous shortbread and sugar cookies. When grandma wasn’t in the kitchen, she would be working in her garden and tinkering around the farmyard. Beverly also spent many hours at her sewing machine with her boxes of patterns creating many dresses, pjs, and pacer pants for Krissy and the grandkids. When she moved to the city, she continued her green thumb and had a beautiful garden with perennials and planters to keep her busy. After moving to the city, Beverly enjoyed the numerous gatherings with friends, as well as coffee time at the Prairie Oasis, and her weekly water workouts and mall walking to meet up with friends.
Beverly also had an incredible knack for keeping up with everything happening in the community — she always knew who was who and had a memory that remained sharp and full of stories until the very end. Many of her stories would always start with, “Well never you mind…” as she shared a tidbit about something or someone who she thought we all should know. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, cheering them on at their activities and celebrating every milestone with pride and love. In her final months at The Bentley, Beverly embraced her new surroundings, and she was delighted in meeting new friends and reconnecting with familiar faces, finding joy and companionship in her short time there. She will be missed by many, and we are grateful for the memories and life lessons that she has shared with us.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, as well as the amazing doctors and nurses in the Cardiac Care Unit and the Post Cardiac Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital – your special care was appreciated.
In keeping with Beverly’s wishes, a Private Family Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Beverly’s name may be made to STARS Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A6. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Jody and Krissy, I’m so sorry to hear about Bev’s passing. She wasn’t just a neighbor or a coffee companion—she was a wise and generous soul whose advice always seemed to come at just the right moment. Bev had a way of making even the simplest chats over coffee feel meaningful, and her warmth and insight left a lasting impression on me.
I’ll always treasure those conversations, the laughter we shared, and the quiet strength she offered. Her kindness and wisdom will stay with me, and I feel lucky to have had her in my life.
Wishing you and your families comfort and peace as you remember Bev and all the ways she made life brighter.

Jodie ad Krista,we were so saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing. We had such a good visit with your folks when we were up there a couple years ago. I had hoped to bring my sister Elaine with to visit next summer. Much love and prayers from your North Dakota cousins, Patsy (Strand) and Larry Priewe
Dear Jodie and Krista,
Bev was a radiant presence in every space she entered—whether at the Trailer Court or the Bentley, her warmth and effervescent spirit lifted those around her. She met life’s challenges, especially in her final days, with grace and quiet strength, never allowing the frailty of her body to dim the light of her soul.
It is a poignant irony that it was her heart that failed her in the end—because for those of us who knew her, Bev’s heart was her greatest gift. It was generous, joyful, and unwavering. She bore the indignities of illness with dignity and courage, never losing the spark that made her so beloved.
She was the heartbeat of our card-playing circle, the laughter in the room, the gentle encouragement when we needed it most. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, and our world is undeniably dimmer without her.
It was our ecstatic joy and profound privilege to call your mother our friend. Her memory will live on in every smile she inspired and every kindness she gave.
With love and deepest sympathy, Laurie, Rosalie, Delores, and Diana. She will at last be with her beloved husband who was so very kind as well.
My condolences to all of Bev’s family. You cared for her so lovingly.
I miss you already my friend. Rest in peace
