Montgomery “Monty” (Sonny) Francis Berg
May 24th, 1954 – September 11th, 2026
It brings the family of Monty Berg, aged 72 years of Elbow, Saskatchewan deep sadness to announce his sudden passing on Friday, September 11th, 2026. Monty filled our lives with warmth and kindness.
He was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Francis (neé: Flostrand) Berg. Monty is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sherry; son, Chris Berg (Della), their children Halley and Gage; daughter, Shauna Berg (Ryan), her daughter Hannah Anderson; and sister, Debbie Hillman.
Monty was known by many for his kindness, generosity, and charismatic, upbeat nature; always the first to lend a helpful hand. He married Sherry Exner on December 19th, 1975, and they had two children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. Monty was known by many from his superhero alter-ego Mr. Powerwash – a small business he and Sherry successfully operated for more than 20 years.
Monty and Sherry moved to their little slice of paradise “The Nest” in Elbow, where they enjoyed the serenity and great fishing of Lake Diefenbaker. Monty was a fan of music – especially the blues – and delighted in playing the harmonica when the mood struck.
A Come and Go Celebration of Monty’s Life will be held on Monday, October 19th, 2026 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 315 Douglas Ave E in Regina, SK (Gerein Centre, south parking lot entrance). The gathering will provide an opportunity for friends and family to share stories and memories, as Monty had requested. A private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Monty’s name may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

A wonderful person, a great cousin and a good friend. Rest in peace.
Monty was 1 of my greatest friends for the last 50 years. He will be missed so much. He always had time for everyone he knew. R.I.P. My Friend. Heaven gained another Angel….
Mr Powerwash – that was Monty’s superhero name as I’m sure many would know. With his sidekick Sherry, countless times they saved the day at many bulk Co-op facilities across western Canada for decades. We met each other through work and became friends. I will fondly remember our lunch time meetings and the wholesome conversations and knowledge we shared. My condolences to Sherry and family, Monty was a terrific person.
My condolences go out to Sherry and family. I first met Monty at Balfour Technical School but got to know him better during our working careers. Always had great visits and conversations. Sorry for your loss and may God Bless.
Our sincere condolences to Sherry, Shawna and Chris for the loss of Monty.

My condolences to the family, but even though Sonny has passed away, he still lives.
When I say he lives…his attributes that were handed down to his children as well as friends; such as empathy, humour, being a friend, a father, brother, mentor carries forward in all individuals that spent time with him.
That in itself is a blessing that live forever as long as those that him carry on his legacy of the good memories to pass to another generation.
God Bless his Family & friends.
Respectfully
