Larry Peter Bender
It is with great sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Larry Peter Bender, aged 71 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Larry passed away in the presence of the Lord on Thursday, February 26th, 2026.
Larry was born in Neudorf, SK, on December 30th, 1954, and grew up on the Bender family farm west of Neudorf. Farming was Larry’s first passion in life, and he farmed on the family farm from 1983 to 2004. Larry loved people and spent his later years in the service industry. When he moved to Moose Jaw in 2014, he enjoyed his time working at the Moose Jaw Co-op Gas Bar on 1st Ave NW.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lorraine and Robert Bender; brothers, Bob and Garry; and sister, Diane in infancy. Larry will be forever missed by his companion in life, Bev Desnomie; children: Chad Bender, Amanda (Charlie) Milne, and Michael (Becky) Bender; step-children: Cord (Crystal) Desnomie, Amber Desnomie, and Kiane (Zack) Desnomie; grandchildren: Breea and Burke Milne, Haylee Woods and Luke Bender, Asher, Scarlette, Avery, and Maverick Desnomie; sister, Donna (Elwood) Turner; sister-in-law, Sharon Bender; as well as his nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. Interment will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Neudorf, SK at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Larry’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation for the Pioneer Lodge Palliative Care Unit, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Chad, Michael, Amanda and the entire Bender Family are so shocked to hear of the passing of my friend Larry. I was in touch with Larry on his 72nd birthday. My deepest sympathy to Larry’s family. I knew him from the gas station. He was very good at his job, careing, thoughtful and remembered peoples names. He always smiled, a very social fellow.
