Blaine Roxy Bechtold
August 6, 1952 – July 24, 2026
Blaine Roxy Bechtold of Moose Jaw, SK., passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 73 years of age. Blaine was born, raised and educated in Moose Jaw. He was employed for many years with Canada Post until his retirement in 2012.
Blaine enjoyed playing hockey and fastball and passed his time watching sports on the tv and listening to music.
Blaine was predeceased by his parents, Auddie and Violet. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Brenda (Lawrence) Stankewich; brother, Reg (Karen) Bechtold as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
In keeping with Blaine’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Blaine’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society Box 1658 Station Main Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Always enjoyed my conversations with Blaine whenever are paths crossed. Fond memories of playing hockey and baseball against him. All round great guy. RIP my friend.

Blaine was a great guy and a good friend, I am very saddened to hear the news.
I remember all of us cousins together at your house a long time ago. And I look at the photograph in my hands and see you at 7 years of age in the front, looking at the camera, and I look at your eyes. Brenda is there and so is Reg; there’s my sisters Barb and baby Jill, and there’s Sharon and Tom, and me — so many decades ago.
The last time we ran into each other, we had a long talk, a good talk. I cherish that.

I want to write something here…. something smart and tender so that everyone can feel what I am feeling… I can’t find a starting point. Blaine was “special” to almost everyone he came in contact with. It seemed to me that most of the guys wanted to be around him, most girls wanted to be with him. He had everything going for him yet, as others have said, he remained humble to everyone. He didn’t have to go and tell everyone he was the star. He just went out and proved it. He is another classmate that I wish I had spent more time with after high school.”Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans.” – John Lennon.

Randy Moore – Hey Jim, very sad for sure. He was definitely a very good athlete. I think the last time I saw him was at the 20th.
Cathie Hunchuk – Thanks for letting us know. Blaine was a huge part of Randy’s life in school and for a few years after we graduated. They were partners in crime and near misses. Always an adventure. Blaine’s record collection was second to none.
We reconnected with Blaine several years ago at the Regina Folk Festival and stayed in touch until he had a bout with cancer. After which he kept to himself much more. The last time we saw him was at the class of 71 gathering at Dave and Edith’s back yard. We had a nice visit. Today is a sad day.
