With sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Helen Bernice Barry announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, at the age of 93 years. She left this world gently, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Frieda Merrick; her beloved husband, Wray Barry, with whom she built a beautiful life; her caring son, Jack Barry; three brothers and two sisters; and her brother-in-law, Calvin Barry and his wife Audrey. Helen leaves behind her loving daughter, Shelley (Daryl) Sapp; daughter-in-law, Debbie Barry; two brothers and one sister; grandchildren: Steven (Debbie) Barry, Stacey (Todd) Gottselig, Jodi (Jamie) Feiffer, Darren (Heather) Sapp, and Brad Sapp (George); as well as 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan, Helen moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan after graduating from high school. In May 1953, she married Wray, and together they created a warm and loving home. Helen also worked part-time at Sears for approximately 30 years.
Helen was the heart of her family and a cherished friend to many. She had a passion for flowers, golfing, travelling, and her home. Above all, Helen loved life and lived it to the fullest.
The Barry family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Raphael Ward at Providence Place for their compassion and care of Helen. Special thanks also to Nancy Cousins for her dedicated support while Helen resided at Chez Nous.
In accordance with Helen’s wishes, a Private Family Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Flowers or donations are gratefully declined. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
My sincere condolences to Shelley, Daryl and families. Your Mom was truly one of the most loving people I have ever had the joy of meeting. Not only was she my friends Mom but a wonderful person to work with at Sears. Your Mom put in a good word to HR on the day I applied. I’m sure that’s why I got the job. A beautiful smile for everyone, fun to be around and always so kind. No words will take away the heartache of losing your Mom. May your abundant memories always bring you joy. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
