
Michael Glenn Westrum
Michael Glenn Westrum, late of Rouleau, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 24th, 2025.
Michael was born May 1st, 1946, in Miami, MB. He grew up and went to school in Briercrest, SK and then on to the University of Saskatchewan Department of Commerce in Saskatoon. Michael married Maureen Large in November 1969, moved to Rouleau, SK and built their new home in Rouleau in 1976.
He and partner, Ken Roney, purchased Westrum Lumber from Michael’s father and grew the company to what it is today. He worked closely with Maureen, Mark, and Scott until he retired in 2020.
Michael enjoyed golf and played throughout Canada, the US and Mexico. He attended the Masters in Augusta, GA, which was a particular highlight. He spent many summers at Eldora Beach and Kenosee Lake, and many winters in Bucerias, Mexico. Michael actively participated in various lumber associations and boards including the Western Retail Lumber Association and Timbermart as both a Director and Chairman. His board experience also extended to the Plain’s/Pasqua hospital board in the 1980s and 1990s. Michael was also elected Mayor of Rouleau in 1989 and served the community until 1991.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Ila; sister, Heather Player; daughter-in-law, Kyla; and his in-laws, Fred and Joyce Large. Michael is survived by his wife, Maureen; sons, Mark (Michelle) and Scott (Tracy); grandchildren: Brittany (Keenan), Jake, and Rylie; great-grandchildren, Nelle and Isla; brother-in-law, Peter Player; sister-in-law, Brenda (Tom) Hartley; as well as many nieces.

My sincere condolences to Michael’s family, my Dad Frank and I worked for Westrum lumber in the 70s and me in the 80s and 90s . Michael set a standard of excellence, professionalism and respect that everyone that knew or worked for him admired. He will be missed by everyone who knew him .
