Steven “Steve” Nicolas Watermanuk

On Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, the world lost a great man.  After a courageous battle against cancer, Steven “Steve” Nicolas Watermanuk aged 75 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away holding the hand of his loving wife Carol.

He was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Doreen Watermanuk.  Steve is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Watermanuk (née: Barth); son, Wayne (Deborah); daughter, Stacy; grandchildren: Sam and Jacob Watermanuk, and Jesse, Sebastian, and Alex Halvorsen; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Lilly Blackmore; sister, Nikki (Ken) Stuart; brother, Darren; and Steve’s special fur baby, Charlie.

Steve was born and raised in Moose Jaw, where he worked at various jobs over the years including Co-op Dairies and the Department of Highways.  In 1980, Steve and his buddy Sid opened their business, S&S Radiator & Welding.  Many students from Peacock High School passed through the doors of S&S Radiator, and Steve and his son Wayne taught them how to weld and fix radiators.

In July 2013, Steve finally retired and closed the shop.  His strong moral work ethic kept him in business for 33 years and he was very proud of the fact that while the shop was open, he never once had to advertise for business!

Steve enjoyed going to the Casino, one of his favourite casinos being Cousin Jack’s in Deadwood, South Dakota.  He also enjoyed playing cards with his family and the Saturday “Tea Parties” at the shop with his buddies.

Steve will be remembered for his huge smile, big laugh, tight hugs, and his phrase “How the hell are ya” or “Not to be ignorant, but…”.

Saturday, May 20th, 2023 will be Steve’s first birthday in Heaven.  So please honour Steve by having a “Tea Party” and enjoy a Rye and Coke.

In keeping with Steve’s wishes, a private family service will be held.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Steve’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 or Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave, Regina, SK S4W 0G3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
