Jadwiga Smolinski

Jadwiga was born May 5, 1929 in Poland and passed away Friday, January 15, 2010 in Moose Jaw, SK. Predeceased by her parents, Leon and Zofia Jaworski, husband Konrad Adam Smolinski, son John Smolinski, and granddaughter Kristin LaRocque. Jadwiga leaves to mourn: her daughters Halina (John) Johnson, Teresa (Todd) Sjoberg, Mary (Mark) LaRocque, and sons Bogdan Smolinski, Ron (Janet) Smolinski, and grandchildren Jennifer (Wade) Johnson, John (Jenna) Smolinski, Amy (Marty) Memory, Kyle (Hannah) LaRocque, Reese Smolinski, and great grandchildren Jayke and Jorja Smolinski. Jadwiga was born in Poland, and raised by her mother, Zofia, and her extended family (her father, Leon, had already immigrated to Canada to find work). Jadwiga went to school in Poland, survived WWII, and became a skilled seamstress. She married Adam Konrad Smolinski June 13, 1953. In 1963, Jadwiga and her family immigrated to Moose Jaw, SK to join her parents. At this time, at the age of 34, Jadwiga met her father for the first time. In Moose Jaw, Jadwiga and her family lived in the Wakamow valley, where Adam was the caretaker of the park. Jadwiga worked at St. Anthony’s home, where she loved her job, and never took a sick day. Jadwiga lived a loving life. She passionately loved God and her family. She attended Catholic Church nearly every week of her 80 years, and loved the services. She loved her family, with as much passion and dedication. She couldn’t always communicate her love with words, but always showed her love with lots of hugs, kisses and thoughtful little gifts. Her love will always be remembered by her family and friends. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 21, 2010 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Moose Jaw, SK at 10:30 am. Father Reymundo Asis will be presiding celebrant and burial will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Prayers will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 7:00 pm in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those so wishing, donations in Jadwiga’s name may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada, P.O. Box 309, Saskatoon, Sask. S7K 3L3.
