Roderique Marasse

The family of Roderique Marasse is deeply saddened to announce his passing at his home in Regina, SK on Monday, November 5th, 2018 at the age of 79 years.  Rod was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.  Rod was born in August 1939 at Lafleche, SK and met his wife, Sylvia Melynchuk, and they were married August 12th, 1961 in Moose Jaw, SK.  Throughout his life Rod had many career changes: from a breadman for McGavin’s, restaurant worker, journeyman carpenter, and found time to be a foster parent to many children and a care home.  Rod was always there to lend a helping hand and advice to anyone who asked. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia; parents, Ed and Alice Marasse; mother and father-in-law, Pauline and John Melynchuk; brothers-in-law: Boris, Edward, and Gene Melynchuk; and son-in-law, Jeff Robson.  Rod is survived by his brother, Gerald (Elaine) Marasse of Moose Jaw; sister, Claudette Decap of Saskatoon; children: Beau Marasse of Regina, Cindy Robson of Prince Albert, Shauna (Darrel) Novak of Regina, Todd (Chris) Marasse of Moose Jaw, and Scott (Emma) Marasse of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Dr. Abduhadi, nurses and staff of General Hospital Renal Unit, and Homecare nurses and staff of the Regina Qu’Appelle health region.  The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 13th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Father Jake Ibay will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery.  Flowers are gratefully declined.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Rod’s name may be made to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7 or Bright Eyes Dog Rescue, 1448 King St, Regina, SK S4T 4G4.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.

So sad to hear of Rods passing. I remember him from being our bread man back in the early 60’s. I’m sure many of the kids on South Hill still remember him as almost a family member, a real friend, not just our bread man. My mom had Rod do some renovations around the house after he retired from his route.
He was a true gentleman and I’m sure will be missed.

Our sincere sympathy to the family. I remember your father bringing Beau to school everyday & having nice chats with both of them. Such a kind-hearted person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. God bless.

So sorry to hear of Rod’s passing. He will certainly be missed. We met Rod through Beau as my wife Shirley was one of Beau’s teachers. He was always so warm and cordial towards us.

Praying for the family during this difficult time that God will draw each one close and provide comfort to their aching hearts.
