George David Gordon Korman

It is with immense sadness for our family, but pure joy for George David Gordon Korman that we announce his passing on Monday, December 11th, 2023.  George has been set free from his broken down body and mind, and we as a family celebrate that he has been completely healed and has been welcomed home, into the loving arms of our heavenly father.  George was born on January 31st, 1939 to Elmer and Margaret Korman in Macklin, Saskatchewan, the youngest of five children.

He was predeceased by his parents and three siblings: Howard, Doug and Stan Korman.  George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Lori; son, Glenn (Kari) Korman; daughter, Heather (Cal) Carter; grandchildren: Kristin (Derek) Churko, Kayla (Josh) Marvin, Ryan Svenson, Tyler (Claire) Korman, Krys Korman, and Reagan (Regie) Carter; and great-grandchildren: Carter, Lily, RJ, Ember, Jack and Xenia.  He shared an extra special connection with Lily as she only lived a few blocks away so she spent a lot of time with G-papa.  George is also survived by his sister, Shirley Koop; sister-in-law, Meryl (Don) Matchulis; as well as many nieces and nephews.

George grew up on the farm helping his mom and dad and maybe getting into a wee bit of mischief!  If there was trouble to be found on the farm, George found it but always with a twinkle in his eye.  At an early age, George accepted Jesus as his Saviour and Lord while at summer camp.  His legacy of faith has been passed down through generations.  George met his wife Lori in Winnipeg, MB and swept that young 14 year old off her feet.  They married on April 8th, 1961.  George spent his whole career working his way up in the Bank of Montreal and ended  his  40 plus year career as the manager of Commercial Credit in Regina, SK.  Lori and George had lots to talk about around the supper table as after having two children and sending them off to school, Lori joined George in the banking industry.

George enjoyed many hobbies over the years which included hunting, golfing, fishing, snowmobiling, camping, cruising, and wood working, but his biggest love was fishing.  When asked recently what he enjoyed the most out of all his travels, fishing was the highlight!

We, as a family, would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff on the Raphael Unit at Providence Place in Moose Jaw for their wonderful care of George, as well as Dave Nelson from Church of God who was a faithful visitor singing and playing his guitar.  Listening to hymns was another great love for George and brought him much peace in the last few years.

A Celebration of George’s Life will be held on Thursday, December 14th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God Campus, 401 Trinity Lane, Moose Jaw, SK with Pastor Larry Hasmatali and Dave Nelson officiating.  A private family interment will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt Funeral Director 306-693-4550
