William (Bob) Roberts Johnstone

William (Bob) Roberts Johnstone, born August 7th, 1944 in Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully at the age of 73 years on Wednesday, August 9th, 2017.  Bob was educated in Moose Jaw at Central Collegiate and was proud to be part of the Central alumni.  Bob’s early days were spent attending university studies, dabbling in gymnastics, and participating in the sport he loved, the rodeo.  In December 1969, he began his 37 year career with Kalium and retired in May 2006.  Bob was an extremely devoted man to his family and friends that he loved so much.  His favourite past time was attending the Saskatchewan Roughrider games, Warrior hockey games, his many kids and grandkids sporting events, and camping.  His amazing optimism, positive outlook and eternal selflessness to protect the ones he loved during his battle with cancer was beyond admirable.  Bob was passionate and protective of his large extended family, which includes the entire Heron family.  He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Johnstone (Roberts) and father, Thornton Johnstone.  Bob will be lovingly remembered by his children: Tami (Tyson) Johnstone, Shannon (Mike) Coco, Rachael (Paul) Young, Ryan (Stephanie) Johnstone and their mother Sharon Bateman; Nathan (Jenifer) Hutchinson, Tyrone (Lori) Johnstone, Brie (Lyndon) Lanoie, Cody (Krisanne) Johnstone and their mother Bev Johnstone; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Laura); as well as numerous other relatives. Thank you to Dr. Vooght, Dr. Thorpe, Moose Jaw Homecare staff, and the Nursing and Care staff from the Medical Unit at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, and to all others who have loved and cared for our dad.  A Service to Celebrate Bob’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 12th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Dave Foley officiating.  Please feel comfortable in joining us in wearing Roughrider or Western Wear.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Dr, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2 or the Allan Blair Cancer Centre c/o Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 7T1.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
