Allan “Bear” Leslie Gill

Allan “Bear” Leslie Gill, aged 63 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.  Allan was born in February 1955 and enjoyed life on the farm in Pasqua, SK before moving to Moose Jaw, SK, with his family.  He attended school at Lindale, Ross, and Peacock Collegiate in Moose Jaw before joining the Moose Jaw School Division, where he worked as a caretaker for 42 years.  Allan loved a good prank and a bad joke. He thought farts were always funny. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, walking, and spending time with his friends and family.  Allan also volunteered with Scouts and the Moose Jaw Soccer Association, where he was vice president and coach, leading his team to a provincial championship. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Estella (née: Champion) Gill; and his infant son, Trevor.  Allan will be lovingly remembered as the greatest Dad ever by his three children: Lana Fisher, Melissa Gill and Owen Gill (Rebecca Otto); and as Grandpa to: Jordan Gill, Preston Fisher, and Caden Fisher.  Thank you for loving and supporting us, developing our sense of humour, and destroying our sense of smell!  We love you! Allan never shied away from having a “very good time”, instigating trouble and partying with his four siblings: Wayne (Elaine) Gill, Debbie (Bernie) McGillis, Donna (Alvin) Koch, and Rob Gill (Rod Schlosser).  Thank you to all the friends and family, staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, Home Care Palliative program, and Extendicare, for the compassion, love, and laughter you provided during his fast-paced battle with ALS.  A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to The ALS Society of Saskatchewan, 90C Cavendish Street, Regina, SK S4N 5G7 are gratefully appreciated.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.

I am so sorry to hear of Al’s passing. My husband Ken worked with Al and always said what a great guy and father Al was. Always had a smile for everyone. I saw him all the time at the mall having coffee with his buddies. He always had time to sit and visit. My sympathy goes out to the family at this difficult time.
