Doreen Margaret Ferguson

Doreen Margaret Ferguson aged 87 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully, with her daughters by her side, on Saturday, February 24th, 2024.

Doreen worked at Safeway for many years and definitely enjoyed talking and interacting with all the customers she met everyday.  She had the gift of the gab and had a conversation with them all.

After retiring, Doreen and Merv moved to BC but came home to Saskatchewan after 5 years on the west coast.  They enjoyed dancing and playing cards, and most especially camping every summer at Buffalo View Campground.  Doreen was also a volunteer in the gift shop at the hospital for 20 years.  She was definitely a people person and loved talking to everyone of all ages.

She was predeceased by her husband, Merv after almost 50 years of marriage; and sons-in-law, Phil and Greg.  Doreen leaves to mourn her passing, her children: Lyle (Anita), Wendy, Ken (Phyllis), JoAnn (Garet), Murray, and Sandy (Darren; as well as 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Dr. M. Alberts and the ER staff, Moose Jaw EMS, and her Chateau St. Michael caregivers and nurse Al, Claudette, Tianna and Claudia.

Mom had a kind word and a smile for everyone and always said,
“You never know what kind of day they are having”.

A Private Family Service will be held at Sunset Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreen’s name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 100-119 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 or Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave, Regina, SK S4W 0G3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

To Doreen’s Family, I worked with her at Safeway and then later on reconnected with her when she was at the gift shop at the hospital. She was a wonderful person to have a chat with. She will be missed. I am sorry for your loss; my sympathies.

To all the family of Doreen I knew her since I was in kindergarten with Ken. When you lived on first avenue N. W. Doreen touched many hearts her whole life . Always very kind and friendly and helpful to all in Safeways. She will be sadly missed. Celebrate her life instead of mourning her passing . Remember her and smile foundly of your wonderful memories of her. God Bless all the family and all who knew Doreen .

Visiting with Auntie Doreen was always easy to do & very enjoyable. As a child I always looked forward to the visits from your mom & dad. She brought so much energy & excitement to whatever room she was in. I was lucky enough to have spent a few summer holidays in Moose Jaw. She was family and I’ll miss her too.
Losing a mom is never easy, no matter the circumstances or the timing. Sending my love & condolences to all the family. I hope to see each of you when we travel nearby. ❤️

Condolences to Doreen’s loved ones. We loved to visit with her when she was either working in the hospital gift shop or taking the candy cart from floor to floor. Doreen always had a smile on her face and loved chatting. She will be missed!
