RUTH MAY EVANS (née: Milligan)

Ruth May Evans aged 91 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Saturday, December 14th, 2024.  Ruth was born on January 8th, 1933, in Robin Hood, SK to parents Charles Leonard and Gertrude Milligan.

During Ruth’s life, she lived in Robin Hood, Moose Jaw, and Regina, SK and Victoria, BC.  Her family was the most important thing to her.  Ruth was a very caring person and would often take in someone who needed a temporary place to live or stay.

Ruth loved horses, the rounding-up of horses to take to Lac Pelletier was a highlight for her growing up.  She also enjoyed birds, nature, flowers, and gardening.  Ruth worked as a dance instructor, a cook on road construction crews, as a caterer, and as a florist.  She met Keith Evans while working at a flower store in Regina and they married in 1963.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Gertrude Milligan; parents-in-law, Henry and Hilda Evans; husband, Keith Evans; son, Alvin Evans; sisters, Patricia Meredith and Delores Halvorson; brother, Bob Milligan; as well as other important cherished and loved family members.  Ruth is survived by her daughter, Maureen Dunlop; son and daughter-in-law, David and Mavis Evans; daughter-in-law, Lana Evans; grandsons: Shea (Courtney) Evans, Cole (Kerstin) Evans, Brennan Evans, and Brett (Rachel) Evans; great-grandchildren: Ella Evans, Wyatt Evans, Lilly Evans, Frank Evans, and little Peanut on the way; brother, Gerry (Barb) Milligan; sisters: Dot (Lloyd) Stout, Lillian (Eugene) Kokoski, and Beverly Ashworth; brothers-in-law: Bruce Evans, Ian (Mary) Evans, and Rick (Joyce) Evans; as well as countless other loved and treasured family members.

The family would like to thank Doctors Brabant and Murray and the nurses on the medical ward at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for the care, respect, and dignity in which they treated Mom and our family. We could not have gotten through this very trying time without your help.

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held on Monday, December 23rd, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  Byron Keen of the Salvation Army will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, donation in Ruth’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 20 Eglinton Ave W, 16th Floor, Toronto, ON M4R 1K8 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2414, Toronto, ON M4P 1E4.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Shirese Noble Funeral Director 306-693-4550

So very sorry to hear about Ruth’s passing. I only knew her briefly in the last year, When I would go to visit my Dad she was always out front enjoying the fresh air, I will miss the welcoming smile and conversation. Thinking of your family at this most difficult time.
