Rose Jeanette Drake

Rose Jeanette Drake (née: Hiebert) passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, June 10th, 2019 at the age of 76 years.  Rose was born on November 12th, 1942 to Peter and Anne (née: Loewen) Hiebert, and was the youngest of 7 children.  She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, with the exception of brother, Dale (Helen) Hiebert and sister-in-law, Bev (Gordon) Hiebert.  Rose graduated grade 12 in 1961 from Central Collegiate in Moose Jaw, SK and shortly there-after married Dale Drake in March of 1962. Together they had three children: Steve (1964), Tim (1967), and Sarah (1987).  Rose was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She will be sadly missed by her 6 grandchildren: Katie, Meagan, Brittany, Courtney, Zachary and Grace; and 4 great-grandchildren: Jayden, Everett, Caiden and Caleb.  Rose was a very artistic and musical person who loved to sing and will be best remembered for her ability to play the piano. She devoted her life to being a Jehovah’s Witness and was a dedicated member in Moose Jaw for many years.  Her faith never wavered and she could always find comfort in her brothers and sisters in the congregation, and by leaning on her God Jehovah. Rose will be deeply missed by her friends and family, numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and everyone who knew her.  Special thanks to the caregivers at Chateau St. Michael’s and the skilled staff at Providence Place for making her final days as comfortable as possible. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 17th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 200 Mulberry Lane, Moose Jaw, SK followed immediately with fellowship at Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Surtees, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.

Dear Steve and family, I am sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. I met your Mom many years ago, and was lucky enough to hear her play the piano and sing a song or two. She was a lovely lady.

Steve, Tim and Sarah, my heart goes out to you and your families at this sad time. I will always remember all the good times with Aunt Rose. I always enjoyed it when she’d play songs on the piano. Love your cousin Wanda.

    To Steve, Tim and Sarah…
I was very sorry to hear about your mom. I have lots of warm memories of her. I once hired her to entertain us at a family reunion, and boy, she made my old piano dance! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it! She came for supper and enjoyed the evening too.
I’ll miss her, but God willing We’ll meet again. Take care.

I was very sorry to hear of Rose’s passing – while I did not really get to know Rose, my father (John Loewen – uncle to Rose ) always spoke about her very warmly and would always remark on her musical talent. Our condolences to you.
