Harvey Brentnel

Harvey Brentnell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 5th, 2014 at the age of 86 years with his family by his side.  He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Brentnell; brothers: Jim and his wife Bertie, Roy and Ralph; sister Jean and her husband Bill Palmer; brother-in-law, Howard Benson; and great-grandson, Jamie Jarton.  Harvey will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Erima; son, Carl (Debbie) Brentnell; daughters, Ellen (Dennis) Sjoberg and Alma (Vic) Black; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Benson; sister-in-law, Neta Brentnell; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Harvey was born on October 31st, 1927 in the Wesley District north of Boharm, SK and received his education in Belle Plaine and the Technical High School in Moose Jaw.  He worked for Kalium, Brentnell Brothers Trucking and farmed in the Belle Plaine District.  The Brentnell family moved to a farm south of Belle Plaine, SK in 1929.  Harvey and Erima were married on December 16th, 1950 and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.  They lived in Belle Plaine where they raised their family.  Harvey was on the Belle Plaine Council, where he served as Councilor and Mayor for 26 years.  He loved to travel and took many trips to Hawaii, one to Europe, many to the USA and Mexico, and had also gone on many family cruises.  Harvey loved country music and would spend many hours listening to tapes while he worked.  He will be missed and remembered by all of his family.  Many thanks to Providence Place, Extendicare and Chez Nous for the care and companionship he received.  The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  A Deaf Interpreter will be present.  Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate and interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery at a later date.  A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will take place on Friday, March 7th, 2014 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Harvey’s name may be made to the Providence Place Foundation Inc., 100 – 2nd Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550.
