Faye Catherine Biggs

Faye Catherine Biggs (Hanson), aged 72 years of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 with her family by her side.

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Richard Eric Hanson and Agnes Watson Lafferty, her daughter Angela Rose Biggs, her sister Anne Wiebe, and her brother Leonard Hanson.

Mom is survived by the father of her children Rodney Biggs, her children Nikki (Johnny) Biggs, Missy (Kris) Lesniewski, Robbie (Meghan) Biggs, her grandchildren Braeden, Raine, Kaedi, Mikaela, Ryder, and Kennerley, siblings Dorothy Mantell, Andrew Hanson, and Roy Hanson, her lifelong friend Colleen Berg, numerous nieces & nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

Mom was born on September 25, 1951, in Central Butte, Sk and raised on a nearby farm.  Mom left the farm at the age of 20 and moved to Moose Jaw where she then worked at CanaDays Apprarel Ltd.

She was married in 1976 and then began her family where she had three beautiful children.  Mom was a stay-at-home mom and raised her children.  She also had a day home where she took care of other children, and those children became family.  Later in life mom worked as a cleaner for Linda’s Heart and Soul and then worked at Perth’s Cleaners.

Earlier in life she enjoyed going out with friends and dancing.  Mom also enjoyed watching her soap operas and The Price is Right, cards, cribbage, cross words, spending time with her children and her grandchildren, going daily for coffee with her sister Dorothy, brother Andrew, and friends.  The grandchildren would sometimes join them when they were in her care and grandma always made sure they went home with different kinds of toys.  Mom loved spending time with her grandchildren as they were her pride and joy.  Mom also had her companion Jay, which was her little shadow that followed her around everywhere she went.

In September of 2017, mom battled a life changing hurdle which tested her strength and changed her way of life which she was then placed in long term care in Extendicare.  She received amazing care from the staff which became family.  She enjoyed daily activities, especially Bingo.  She always said everyone cheated and when she did win, she would get a “stupid chocolate bar”.  She kept all the staff on their toes and the nick name she was given was “TROUBLE”.

Mom was known for her feistiness, toughness, and her infectious giggle.  She was kindhearted, generous, and always there when her family needed her.  Her giant heart touched the lives of everyone that knew her, and all are grateful to have had her in their lives.

Special thanks to the dedicated staff at Extendicare, as well as the nurses and doctors at Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their care and kindness.

At the request of Faye, there will be no funeral service.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Faye’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Sask. 100-119 14 Street NW Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

My condolences to Faye’s family. She was an absolute hoot. Pulling the fire alarm to see good looking firemen, a pinch on the bum, and always welcome surprise hugs…that lasted forever…I will miss her. Hugs to Nikki, Missy and Robbie…

Our sincerest sympathy to Rodney, Nikki, Missy, Robbie and families. As a cousin, Don recalls the fun times he had with Faye, her siblings, and other cousins when visiting the Hanson family homestead just outside of Chaplin. In later years, he would often bump into Faye, along with Andrew and Dorothy, at the Co-op and would so enjoy the kibitzing back and forth. She will be dearly missed by all. May she rest in Peace!
