Raymond Domenic Ghiglione
Raymond Domenic Ghiglione aged 97 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026. Ray was one of the best. A husband, father, grandfather, trusted friend, advisor, and businessman. Patient and understanding. Particular and fussy. Frugal yet generous. A man that could fix anything. Stubborn and persistent.… and all with a sense of humour.
Ray was the youngest son of Italian immigrants Domenic and Francis Ghiglione. He was born on the farm, near Coderre, SK and completed his schooling at Campion College in Regina, SK. Ray and Fay were happily married for 63 years, until her passing thirteen years ago. His business career started in Moose Jaw at S.S. Kresge Department Store and then took him to Port Arthur and Saskatoon, SK. Upon returning to Moose Jaw, he went to work at Thatchers Hardware (Moose Jaw Hardware) which eventually transformed to Ashdown’s. In the late 1970’s he purchased the Ashdown’s name and a building with long-time friends Reg Parker and Bob Schultz. He did years of volunteer work with Cardiaction Exercise program.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Kay and Joe. Ray will be deeply missed by his sons, Kevin (Monica) and Brent (Nadine); and his grandchildren: Gabriel, Allegra, Dominic, Lukas, and Kiera.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 15th, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate, and interment will take place in the Moose Jaw Funeral Columbarium. Those not able to attend may view the service by going to www.moosejawfuneralhome.com/webcast/. Flowers are gratefully declined. We are so sorry for your loss. We were very blessed to have Ray as such a wonderful neighbour and family friend for many years. Brian and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ray. Our deepest sympathy to Kevin and family, and Brent and Family. Ray was a wonderful, intelligent, kind, and caring neighbour and friend. I will miss being “Mrs Karavitz” watching Ray’s coming and goings. Brian and I miss our chats with Ray over the fence and discussing many topics. I know you will cherish the happy memories you have of your Dad (Grandpa) .
