GARY BRIAN DAHLMAN
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Brian Dahlman, who passed away at home with family by his side on Thursday, October 1st, 2026, at the age of 75 years. Gary was born on April 10th, 1951 in Wolseley, Saskatchewan, and lived a life filled with love, family, friendship, and many cherished memories.
He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Lillian Dahlman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Grace Geib; sister-in-law, Marion Axelson; and brothers-in-law, Richard Geib and Robert Geib. Gary leaves behind his beloved wife, Joan Dahlman, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Nicole MacDonald; son, Trevor (Jen) Dahlman; and grandchildren: Hudson and Hayden MacDonald, and Bailee and Carter Dahlman. He will also be remembered by his brother, Terry (Theresa) Dahlman; sister, Deb (John) Vinge; sisters-in-law, Judy Gardner and Darlene Geib; brother-in-law Murray Geib, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in April 1971 and was medically discharged in June of 1972. He then enrolled in the welding program in Moose Jaw and spent the majority of his career at SIAST Palliser Campus in Moose Jaw. He dedicated many years to teaching and mentoring others as a Welding Instructor, and later as Program Head. He took pride in his work and in the many students he taught, sharing not only his knowledge and skills, but also his experience and passion for the trade.
An avid athlete throughout his life, Gary enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and golf. He loved the competition, camaraderie, and friendships that came with being part of a team, as well as the enjoyment of being out on the golf course. Sports brought Gary many years of happiness and countless memories. Gary also enjoyed playing cards at the Legion and traveling to Mexico during the winter months with his wife Joan and developing many lifelong friendships over the years.
Though he is no longer with us, his kindness, his love of family, his passion for sports, and the knowledge and friendships he shared throughout his life will never be forgotten. A special thank you to the Palliative Care Team of Moose Jaw who cared for Gary over the last year, as well as Moose Jaw Funeral Home for the care and compassion during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will take place in the Spring of 2027 on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, 885 Meadowlands Dr, Suite 502, Ottawa, ON K2C 3N2.
