Brian “Cameron” Smith

Brian “Cameron” Smith passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at Providence Place in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, at the age of 80 years, after a short battle with cancer.  

Cameron was born on December 21st, 1945, in Moose Jaw, to his parents, John and Barbara Smith.  On August 10th, 1963, he married the love of his life, Alice “Stella” Brewer.  Together, they farmed in the Edgehill District on the family farm alongside his father and brother.  

Cameron was predeceased by his beloved wife, Alice “Stella” Smith; parents, John and Barbara Smith; and sister, Mabel (Syl) Arguin.  Cameron will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Glenda Hicks Carroll (Brian), Rhonda Smith, and Mona Smith Lebel (Barry); and son, Cory Smith (Coralie).  He leaves behind his grandchildren: Amanda Hixson (Steve), Tianna Hicks Otten (Colby), Dylan Hicks (Jasmine), Austin Thirsk, Dallas Smith, and Ella Smith; great-grandchildren: Mikaya Hixson, Rhylan Hixson, Westyn Hixson, Kynlee Hixson, Dawson Otten, Ellie Otten, and Hayes Gillis; and a granddaughter due in November.  He is also survived by his brother, Clayton Smith; special friend, Eleanor Medlock; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  

Cameron had a love for attending Johnstone Auction and garage sales, where he could often be found looking for his next “Good Deal”.  He loved all animals, rodeos, and country music.  A true jack of all trades, there wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out or fix.  He was also a notorious prankster, always ready with a joke or a clever prank for family and friends.  His sense of humour and mischievous spirit will be deeply missed.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Moose Jaw Special Care Home and Providence Place for the amazing care and love shown to our dad in his journey home .   

A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held on Thursday, September 17th, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate, and a private family interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery.  In memory of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, we kindly ask that, in lieu of donations, you consider helping a friend, neighbour, or someone in need.  A simple act of kindness in his memory would be a meaningful way to honour his life.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
