Sean Andrew Hunter

On August 27,2026 Sean Andrew Hunter our father, husband, son, teammate and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born in Prince Rupert in 1976 Sean and his mother Cathy moved soon after to Golden B.C. He moved all over the East Kootenays throughout his childhood spending 7 years living in Hosmer and taking the bus to Fernie from kindergarten to grade 5. In 1987 they made the trek again to Golden where Sean finished school and graduated in 1994. After graduating, Sean had many jobs starting as a gas jockey at Mohawk and in the bakery at Overwaitea Foods. This was followed by a stint working in the logging industry for B.H&H in and around Golden and he froze up north for a couple of winters logging in Fort Nelson. He was a delivery driver for Dairyland, Frito-Lay, and owned Westons Bread. Sean has worked for CPKC throughout his life starting out as a carman in Golden and worked his way up to his final position as a Senior Mechanical Manager in Moose Jaw/Saskatoon. 

In 1998 Sean and Nikki started dating, they married in 2005. Sean and Nikki have 5 amazing children. Nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time and laughing with his family and friends. In 2020 during the peak of covid, Sean, Nikki and the kids grabbed their facemasks and made their way to Moose Jaw. 

Sean made a lifetime of memories with his many varied interests including camping, fishing, hockey, disc golf, mountain biking, photography, coaching his kids in soccer, hockey and basketball, an avid Fortnite player and was always up for a game of crib. A lifelong Edmonton Oilers fan, Sean enjoyed cheering on his favorite team. Sean was undoubtedly the life of the party, he had a rare gift for making everyone laugh, was known for his photobombs and always had just the right one liner from one of his favourite movies or tv shows at the ready. 

His warmth, kindness, and loving spirit will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife Nikki; their children Jordan (Cole), Emily, Lucas, Hannah, and Rayne. His mother Cathy and his brother Wade (Yvonne, Reese, Katie), His step siblings Blaine (Angela), Debbie (Ted), Judy (Glen) and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended families. 

He was pre-deceased by his Grandma Susan Hicock, his dad Robert (Bob) Hunter and grandparents John and Margaret Hunter.  A Celebration of Sean’s Life will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sean’s name may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society.
