Joseph Delawski

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Delawski on Friday, August 21st, 2026, at the age of 76 years.  

Joe was born to Mike and Olga Delawski and was raised on the family farm west of Rockford, SK.  At the age of 16, he went out working, first in Saskatoon, SK and then in Calgary, AB.  On March 28th, 1970, he married Judy Halbach.  In 1972, they moved back from Calgary to farm south of Lintlaw, SK, where they raised their family.  In addition to the farming he loved, he spent many enjoyable hours in his shop, fixing his own farm machinery and that of others in the community.  

After 40 years of farming, Joe’s health dictated his retirement, and they moved to Moose Jaw, SK to be near their grandchildren, where he filled the rest of his time with his second love — fishing.  Over the years, Joe and Judy enjoyed many road trips in Canada and the Western USA, Alaska, as well as two trips to Taiwan.  

In October, 2019, Joe suffered a stroke and was lovingly cared for at home by Judy for the next 5 years.  His health declined further, and he went into long term care in March 2025.  Special thanks to the staff at both Moose Jaw Special Care Home and Providence Place for their wonderful care.  Thank you also to Dr. Bortolotti and the staff at Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their exceptional care during his final days.  

Joe looked forward to the time when God’s will is done on earth, as Jesus taught in the Lord’s prayer.  At that time, “no resident will say, I am sick”. (Isaiah 33:24)  

He was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Olga Delawski; father-in-law, George Halbach; infant siblings, Mary-Ann and Billy; sisters-in-law, Maureen Delawski and Cindy Delawski; and nieces, Carla and Angela.  Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Judy; children: Sheldon, Shannan (Christine), and Shelanie (Blair) Greensides; grandchildren, Kyle Greensides and Kianna Greensides; brothers: Gerald (Sherry), Gary (Roberta), Don (Shelley-Lou), and Dale (Kayla); mother-in-law, Edith Halbach; sister-in-law, Uldine Maleschuk; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
