Lloyd Isley Harker
If you think it’s silly to microwave an ice cream cake, well it’s not and that’s how people like it. One of the life lessons Lloyd Isley Harker was able to pass along in his 97 years of life. Lloyd passed away on Friday, May 29th, 2026, but he has left all that have met him with a wealth of memories to spread accompanied by a bright smile. On January 12th, 1929, Lloyd was welcomed into a large and loving family, by his parents Evelyn and Edward. He roamed the countryside with his 7 siblings by his side. It is here where he learned that family bonds are the meaning of life and to lend a hand to anyone in need. He married the love of his life, Leola “June” in 1956, and they raised their two daughters Debra (Bob) and Joy (Rick) in Lewvan, SK in a house that Lloyd built. Lloyd was officially a grandpa to six: Marie (Boyd), Mathew (Nicole), Levi (Cynthia), Isley, Kacey (James), and Megan (Darcy), and a great-grandpa to Clay, Aubree, Elin, Odin, Isley Joanne, Dixon, Blaine, Luxton and Lauten. But he adopted so many more along the way. Anyone who got the privilege to know Lloyd, got to experience how he could smile with his whole face and somehow his body. You might have even seen him make a silly face or stick his tongue out when he caught your eye. Being silly was just a way of life. Lloyd was known for his strong hugs, which were his way to let you know that you were special and loved. His advice to you would be “Swing kids in a blanket every time they ask. Take them for ice cream as much as you can. When blizzards are on sale, buy some and put them in the freezer to save some money, to buy more ice cream and treats. Build as many things as you can. And always dip your cookie in your tea.” In keeping with Lloyd’s wishes, there will be no Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Lloyd’s name may be made to Coteau Range Manor c/o Village of Avonlea, Box 209, Avonlea, SK, S0H 0C0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Cara Ashworth, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
